Rw Stauter Poem
Looking out the window
I didn't see a sound
Nothing out there moving
The world on solid ground
No birds were out there singing
No rustling of the leaves
Is the river flowing
But silent as a breeze?
Was I really seeing
The absence of all sound?
Or was I only hearing
The silence all around?

Rw Stauter Poem
I heard a song that took me back
The lake in '85
Almost like I was still there
And she was still alive
I listened and I sang along
Then heard her voice so clear
Singing with me, in my head
As if she was right here
She left me all those years ago
It wasn't in our plans
I held her as she closed her eyes
With her holding my hands
The song was playing as twilight waned
The water mirror still
I remember gazing at the lake
And held her close until...

Rw Stauter Poem
Walking down the alley
Watching all the cats
Watching every step I take
I wondered, what’s with that?
Have they nothing better
To do with all their time
Then watching me watching them
But paying them no mind?
One came walking towards me
Asks me if I’m cool
I said I’d like to think so
Is than an alley rule?
His strut gave me the answer
He didn’t have to say
Clearly he’s the coolest
Not just an alley stray
He wandered off real slowly
The stories he could tell!
He turned and smiled back at me
He wore his coolness well
