Crown of Bones

I am buried alive
My thoughts and actions digging me deeper
These transgressions surround me
Forming a coffin I'm bound in
A living beast I'm sentenced to
These claw marks are my struggles
My plea for help
As darkness creeps heavier and heavier on my soul
A beam of light presents itself
Freedom
Lend a hand and set me free
And I promise to do the same for you
Where is your shovel?
Where is your weapon of choice?
I'm falling deeper and deeper into this abyss
Just let me hear your voice
I am being lifted
I can finally breath the sweet moist air
The smell of death and soil surrounds me
But all I see is light
A mirror
And my reflection is the grave digger
I put myself here
Clothed in pig's skin
With a crown of bones
I have demonized me
Lend me a hand and set me free
And I promise to do the same for you
Where is your shovel?
Where is your weapon of choice?
I'm falling deeper and deeper into this abyss
Just let me hear your voice
Let me leave this place of death
If you'll open the gate
I promise I'll walk through
Cleanse me and bathe me
Show me your forgiving hand
Show me what forgiveness is
Bury this cloak of filth
These things that weigh me down
You dig the hole
And I'll toss this aside
I'm burying myself again
Walking away a new creation

Dial Tone

Don't say a word
It's time to finally leave this world
The difference between close and lose
Is the letter c the chance to choose
And once and for all
The leaves begin to burn and fall
A spiral staircase
And you're running down
Out of this place
Away from it all
Away from this face
You’re packed up
Delicately with a sheet
The doors are closed
We’re following behind
Closely like sheep
We're all alone
But all we can hear
Is this steady dial tone
And you can’t pick up the phone
But I’ll give it all away
For the missing piece
And I’d scream my lungs out
Just to have some peace
My mind will wear thin
Like a ribbon tied to your wrist
I’ll bear this pain
For a new plot twist

Woodsman’s

Dear grace have I lost my mind?
Is this the room where I will find you?
I cannot grapple with sin and death tonight
But oh how sweet the sight
The angels will sing
And the choir will weep
And my blackened lungs
Well, they will scream
Dear grace what is this place?
And how I long to see your face
The whole world seems to stop and watch
As I stumble upon this lock
The wind will blow
And the birds will crow
And my broken body
Well, it still floats
Dear grace what am I doing here?
This is just what I feared
Three more days without you
Is an eternity to few
And I will hold your crown
And the blood will make us frown
And my trembling hands
Well, they'll nail you down
Dear grace what have I done?
I swear I was just having fun
Her smell still lingers
And I'm burning like the sun
You'll turn the water into wine
And I will wonder why
And my broken heart
Well, it's scars are mine
Three nights staring at the cross
Around your neck as we fall
I'll hold the nails between my teeth
I swear you said crucify me
Three days and my mind is made
Up the hill is where we'll lay
You down, dear grace or should I say
This empty room is the tomb I made

Cleansing Smoke

This empty pack of cigarettes
Reminds me of the time we met
We were vibrant and young
We watched the world as we spun
Around
Dancing among all these questions
The heavy glow was making fun
Mocking the future of what was to come
The sun is setting on a love once lost
Anew day is approaching
But at what cost?
Five foot even and burned at the ends
It is goodbye
It is time to mend
These broken promises never kept
You were the blade that clipped
My wings
It is over
We are infectd
And you're addicted
The attention you always craved
Comes with a price
These scars on my lungs
Are my screams as I clung
Onto you
What's the price we pay for perfecton
For affliction
So cover me in ink
And bury me, just bury me
This broken glass is a broken memory
Of the house we used to share
I'll burn it to the ground
As I smoke my last cigarette
It reminds me of the time we met

Whispers of Calm

Quick don't make a sound step up to the table
Take these drugs and feel alive again
Everything you've ever wished for is just a pill away
Just don't let your feelings sway
The premonition is lost behind his eyes
Lay closer and let things come to life
The thrill has left a sliver of hope
And these livid dreams are helping you cope
Your bedside manner is lacking in a wasted time once lost
The profane and profound impersonate the rich and the loud
In a time where we all resist the hand that feeds
The breath of life blows out the candle of death
So take heed and don't make a sound
Creep through the darkness to search for the light all around
A ragged whisper sends a chill down your spine
Struggle to keep your balance she says you're all mine
Touch the water and let it cleanse your drunken soul
Let's make believe we're all something more
You'll be dead by morning's end
You'll be dead by tomorrow morn
Sing to the dead for us and grant them peace
Let them know that heavens been released

The Hunter

She said I'm bored I think it's time I left
She hopped in her car, headed west
She left him waiting and wanting more
At least she's pretty
A shame she's a whore
I can't say I blame her
She has her own life to live
It's the girls like her
Who make it so hard to give
Nothing matters
But a notch in her bedpost
It's a race to the end
To see who can get the most
It's the bad girls who trick the good guys
Dress her up it's all a disguise
She's a wolf on the prowl
With her bedroom eyes
She's the ruse of the day
A savior she'll say
She's dolled herself up
Heads out for the night
She's looking to smear
Her nose cocaine white
It's the same places
Just different faces
There’s a thrill in the hunt for her
There’s a power hidden deep in her skirt
The mirrors will break
And her nose will bleed
It’ll splatter the ground
Coat her shaking hands
Beauty is only skin deep
It hurts most when it fades

Dueling Sleep

I sleep for minutes at a time
And wake up with more on my mind
It’s not enough to be king of it all
When you see how quickly you’ll fall
Can you feel the weight of the sea
As the waves crash and the wheel weaves?
This silken home can’t comfort the past
The weeds have dug too deep to last
Violence paints a red streak across the walls
It taints our thoughts and beckons our calls
Bits of dreams are stripped and dashed
As shells of humans line the paths
What’s my purpose?
Tell me now I need a reason
What can I stand for?
I feel too weak to stand for something
Can you tell me at least
Am I a man or a beast?
I can’t tell anymore
As we both slam the door
I’ve lost my mind through a lifetime of self abuse
The gaps through my mind leave a trail of excuses
I can’t find a way out of this darkness
A lamp and a map can’t span the emptiness
So I’ll cut off a limb for each mistake I’ve caused
I’ll leave nothing but a black spot on our walls
My last piece of art is left at its best
Your broken heart inside my bleeding chest

Backseat Driver

Well I'm going against my better judgement here
And telling you all of my mistakes
I'll do it on my own terms though
Because I don't want to get too close for too long
I know with each word I speak your heart breaks
So I'm pulling away with every ounce of strength I can muster
Because honesty nowadays lacks a certain shade of luster
And I'm terrified of our future together
This January air makes it too cold to catch my breath
But my lungs are burning with a sense of urgency
And I'm unable to breathe
I can't help but to speak faster, revealing all of my skeletons
But I'm drawing in closer to you
When all I want is to settle down in this backseat away from view
I'm failing at keeping my distance
Because this wasn't the way things were meant to be said

Sanctuary

I serve as an example
Of the downfall of man
To all the cheats
The liars and thieves
This is your sanctuary
My lack of compassion
Is proof of the creature
That I have become
This case of apathy
Will prove to be
The facade that I bring
There is no love lost
And an explanation will only show
How much my heart will cost
So break these chains
That serve as the pain
I have caused you your whole life
There is no hope
And no time to cope
This ecstasy is short lived
In a time that my mistakes are hid
It’s a weight we carry
And you can see right through me
And the lies that I tend to be
Just listen closely
This is sanctuary

Absence

The longing we feel
Falls on deaf ears
Our heartstrings are pulled
Ripped apart
They have been trampled
They say absence
Makes the heart grow fonder
But I don't believe in the wives tales of old
Absence can make
The brightest hearts turn black and cold
We are just a stones throw apart
And I'm standing here throwing my heart
A frozen heart hurts worse when it hits home
And home is where the heart is
It stings a little more when you're all alone
