Evans Nartey Poem
They would have clenched their fists in rage if they were us
If they were us, they would have squirmed with complaints
Because they are comfortable,
Our plights appears less bothering
Less bothering because we would have done same , if we were them .
Their promises are just sugar-coated words ,
After actualizing their conquests,
their goals,they make us worse
Worse by extorting our last pennies
pennies from our wretched, messed up labor activities .
Education being the key to success,
now seems to rather lock up and delay dreams
because, years meant for development are just spent
Spent on lessons and challenges that are not even applicable in the future
these lessons just stress minds that are already stressed since gestation
Fingers should not point
Tongues should not blame
Our minds I believe are like joints
The black melanin seems to jnject into this flame
This flame of selfishness, ethnocentrism and embezzlement
Where one belly desires to devour the meal of a whole populace
The populace that forgets about their own development
But focuses on snatching roles of the highly placed
Now ask yourself, if we were them , will they wish they were us ?

Evans Nartey Poem
The brother who once drank and dined with us
Now orders for swords to slay us
He allowed himself to be brainwashed
By the men whose skins are rarely scorched
For a few shillings, he has been purchased
Purchased morally, mentally , I fear even spiritually
Because his morals and emotions are tarnished
Tarnished and farmished from endlessly trying to please
Please the men who delight in the gnashing of our teeth
Running unending errands has periodically calloused his feet
The feet that once moved to rhythms of the drum we beat
The brother that never seized to dream ,
has now achieved all he craved
but instead of this making our faces beam
rather stressing us out ,making us bleed , forcing us to flee.
Remember brother , we never hate , we still know
That one day , the venom injected in you , will cease to flow,
Then you know, you become keen , on finding your way home
Oh our , far gone , missing.

Evans Nartey Poem
The original plan was to be very concrete
The original plan was to eradicate poverty from the bloodline
To live the life my fathers couldn’t cement
Today, there’s a twist to the original storyline
Coming across money is near impossible
Very educated but still unemployed
Employed but still under paid
Plans and dreams slowly getting decayed
The ones in power immediately forget the vows they swore
The vows they swore when they were given the mandate
The mandate for the betterment of wretched lives
Lives that once shined very bright
bright, but are now dimmed by the fog of poverty
Poverty that’s stuck on the lives of us like fleas
It’s sad to realize that , there’s no help so we flee
We have to flee , for safety , for better lives
Lives that our motherland cannot support
For our dreams to be on track , to become a reality ,
We have to relive , readdress and fight for our original plans .

Evans Nartey Poem
Oh my dearest, she who my whole yearns for ,
She who was boldly drafted in the future of mine
Now very distant, far gone , breaking my all
Where was I at fault? Were my transgressions so great to let it fly ?
Dawns swiftly metamorphosing into dusks
memories of her , the sweet toned voice ,brings me near tears
maybe not now , maybe not in the coming years ,
but my mind hopefully will ditch these heart piercing flashbacks.
Heart vigorously pounding,
enticing suicidal thoughts.
Unending streams from my eyes ,making me taste salts
Nothing and nothing seems exciting.
Maybe one day, or some day ,
this pain will grow wings , enabling it to fly away.
To get my smile back ,yes I might sound like a fool
Because my happiness has always and forever, laid in you .
