YOU'RE STILL HERE

I feel you when
the night swallows my joy.
As the sunlight hits my face
I remember your smile.
When the wind blows a kiss
I know you're with me.

NATIONAL TREASURE

A lady was throwing out the trash
She was desperate to earn some cash
She tossed books in the air
Dumped them off without care
Then startled when she heard a big crash

She collected the pieces of glass
Catapulted them onto the grass
Then curled up for a rest
Leaning on the old chest
Until several hours had passed

Waking up in the late afternoon
To the sound of the mockingbird’s tune
She bumped into the hook
And knocked over a book
Titled ‘A Surrender to the Moon’

Her gasp of delight did ricochet
Around the backyard in disarray
Her prized anthology
Filled with mythology
Complete with her poetic essay

She published her first poem ever
Bound together to last forever
In this book so cherished
Never will be perished
Because it’s a national treasure

A FLOCK OF SEAGULLS

A blanket of turquoise and sapphire blue;
cacophonous gray and white plumage sail.
Skimming along the sea’s light foamy hue;
a blanket of turquoise and sapphire blue.
Beauty in flight, soaring the sky’s vast view;
they flock together on a grander scale.
A blanket of turquoise and sapphire blue;
cacophonous gray and white plumage sail.

A blanket of turquoise and sapphire blue;
skimming along the sea’s light foamy hue.
Beauty in flight, soaring the sky’s vast view;
they flock together on a grander scale.
Cacophonous gray and white plumage sail;
ascending high on a heavenly trail.

COURTSHIP DANCE

Iridescent Birds-of-Paradise
do their extravagant mating dance.
Wondrous spectacle before my eyes
as they pirouette and prance.

SWAN

Slowly floating down the
stream, the waterfowl glides
seamlessly along the
surface of the lake, its
soft, silky plumage, and
slender form, gracefully
sailing into the sun.

SECRETS OF THE OCEAN

As the tide retreats,
the shore unveils a tapestry
of deep garnet and crushed ruby sand,
spread before a mosaic of polished rocks.

Towering above,
the jagged cliffs rise steeply,
their weathered faces carved
by relentless waves.

Ancient glyphs emerge,
whispering timeless secrets
to the ever-listening ocean below.

THE CIRCUS

The trio – Jackal, Fangas, and Goblin,
saw a gruesome circus in Doblin.
Fangas whined and cried,
Goblin turned bug-eyed,
so Jackal whisked them home a squabblin’.

BUTTERFLY

As she drinks nectar from a flower, sweetness from heaven falls like dew
anointed like gentle rain amidst sun showers, she appears as if on cue

Lifting her wings, she lands on a Zinnia beneath a tinted sky of April blue
a flight of fancy fanning fast, she's a fabulous marvel of beauty, true on true

A whispering wind drifts down; wings flutter like a thousand shimmering stars.
Startled, the fragile creature flits away but dares not venture too far.

She moves onto the next blossom, twirling around to sip its sweet elixir,
tantalizing her senses with the promise of warm, golden, honeyed nectar.

A sparrow bursts into song nearby, filling the air with cheerful notes of love. Instinctively, she lifts her gaze to the tangle of branches and twine above.

There, the songbird bobs gracefully among the fronds in the lofty canopy,
while the butterfly twitters about joyfully enjoying the lively symphony.

DOOLEY'S DEVIL'S DELIGHT

Darling Dolly liked to dawdle
down past Dooley’s Deli.
Darling Dolly didn’t dabble
in Dooley’s Devil’s Delight.
Devil’s Delight, a donut dessert,
didn’t do it for Dolly.
Darling Dolly didn’t delight
in Dooley’s donut dessert.
So Darling Dolly dawdled home
without Dooley’s Devil’s Delight.
