All Around Us

From the delicate raindrops
resting, draping from the treetops
To the rich soil and velvet soft grass
we dig our feet in
We breathe in the scent of fresh air
We open our eyes to see
The soft glow of the sunrise
The ever-glowing moon in the night sky
And we know
He surrounds us
Gives us everything we could ever need
Providing us with food
With a roof over our heads
A family we get to call our own

Should I go?

When life gets heavy
The weight harder to bare
What can we do
How can we
find something
anything
to keep us going
To move us forward
toward the unknown
toward a place
leading us down
a path we do not know
And how do we know
when it's really time
for us to just let go?
Let the pain
slip from our fingertips
bleed onto the ground that holds us steady
sink into the rich soil full of our lifetime memories
as the tears cry a waterfall down our faces
fueling our rich soil
so that we can continue to grow
so that we can rise up
just to try and hold on a little longer
to try to fight this world around us a little harder

Stars in the Night Sky

As the sunlight fades to black
And the air begins to chill ever so slightly
I’m laying in the soft grass
Staring at the millions of stars
And I’m thinking
How it seems so unfair
That so many struggle every single day
So many people fade into the darkness
Getting trapped
Becoming lost
With no way of finding a Haven
No way of becoming something stronger
Because not everyone has a home
Has a lover to fall back on
And these people struggle
Fight day in and day out
Just to survive
Only to hang on by a thread
Only to be overshadowed by everyone else
People, we are like the stars in the night sky
We all shine
Some just really catch your eye
While others linger in the distance

Stay

Stay

In the times where everything feels so worthless
Know that you are worthwhile
On the days where the sun never seems to shine
Know that it’s still in the sky
When life feels like it’s too heavy
Know you have people to help carry that weight
For all those hurtful comments people give out
Be reminded that people give out compliments too
When you look into that mirror everyday
Make sure you like the person you’ve become
If you feel like you can’t hang on
That you can’t go on another day
It is important to look around
See everything this life has to offer
All those unexplainable relationships
All those conversations you replay
All the people that you know
Those people are part of you
Connected to you like a puzzle
Making you the person you are today
Just know that people are here for you
Know that people do care
You are so loved
So hang on
Stay

For you

I could tell you a million times

Just how much I love you and how much you mean to me

I would carve out the moon just for you

Bring you the sun to keep you warm

Give you my heart so that I can always protect yours

Keeping you safe, keeping you secure

And I would do anything

To keep that charming smile on your face

To keep your heart and your soul happy

Fore, you are everything to me

The One made purely for me

So let me give you the universe

And so much more

At the tips of your very fingers

Everything you could ever want

Everything you could ever dream of

Will surely become yours

Reflection

I'm facing the mirror
My mind is racing a million miles a minute

My reflection is looking back at me
But she isn't me....

Her hair is no longer blonde
Her eyes have lost their shine
Her skin looks tired
And her smile lines turned to a frown

She's watching my every move
Falling into step
Putting on a show for everyone around

But she isn't me
This isn't me at all

I want to wake her up
Tell her she deserves to be loved
She deserves to be alive

And if I could,
I'd give her an ocean of love
so much she could drown in it
Bathe in it
Feel it drip from her fingertips
So much love that she could waste it
Throw it all away, just to be surrounded by it once again

I'd want her to see for herself
What she saw in herself back then
Not too long ago
but it feels like it's centuries since

From the person we are now
From the person all this pain morphed us into
A person we can't recognize as "us" anymore
A once golden-heart turned to dusty coal

And I hope she knows,
The person society wanted her to be
Was not the person she was destined to be

I hope she sees for herself,
That she can change
Her life can be turned around

It's never really over until it's over
and even then, you could get up just to try again
to "try"
Because we all deserve to "Try" a little more
To fight a little harder
Just so that we can all become so much stronger.

I smile at her, she smiles back at me
It's a start, towards better days
Brighter skies and Rainbows filled with gold

And together we can go
Walking our path
The one we know leads us home

And for once,
We won't be so scared
Because we aren't alone after all
We can use the moon in the night sky
As a light to guides us if it ever gets dark

She's a warrior
A Fighter
So much stronger than she thinks
And for once she's going to know it

Reaching Out

No You are not alone

Take my hand
I am reaching out to you

Through the darkness
that seems to lock you in

Know that there is light
That you hold a greater fight

Can you feel my hand
Pulling you away from the darkness

Closer and closer

Towards the warmth
Towards the light

Thankful

I watch as the sky around me fades to black
The day turning itself into night
I watch the stars sprinkle themselves into the dark sky
Wondering if they rows of stars ever have an end
As I dig my feet into the soft grass
Inhaling the scent of a nearby campfire
I can’t help but be thankful
To truly be grateful for everything I have
All the people whom I love
The people who I know love me
It’s a safe thought
A happy escape
To know the ones you love
Love you too

Rooted

Our roots start, deep within our minds
That hold bodies and personalities of all kinds

Our families are here to help us see
The person we are truly meant to be

Deep down, within our brains
We keep up an act, to avoid the drain

And we strive to be Kind
Fore when evil happens, we shall not act Blind

Negative energy can cause something bad
Fore, we don't want to live our lives sad

So, we must know what is right
And push for it, like it's a life-or-death fight

Heart Bound

Somedays
I wish to carve out my heart
Deep within my soul
Removing it from my aching bones
So that I can see
Does it really bleed
I want to hold it closely
Feel it beating within the palms of my hands
Watching what is keeping me alive
And as the years go by
Will the beating ever begin to slow
