Olubikin

You were the first 
To speak to herbs
And make the ailing cured.
The greatest healer known to all
Like ripples, your fame 
Was far spread.

Olubikin! Olubikin!
Heed the elders' call—
Bitter fruits are not sought by bats.
For honey— bees are hunt.
Flamboyant plumage 
Will attract hawks.
Success is a curse.

Echoes of a Fallen Queen

Awake, O Mother, awake!
Your glory, an echo of a bygone prime.
Your once-mighty bow, now broken lies,
A fragile stick, bereft of might.

A glorious Queen, who begot all,
Fades away, like autumn's fall.
Ravaged by those her womb helped bore,
Betrayed by those she trusted most.

They claimed you died of lack,
Yet feasted at your wake.
As they entombed you, tears fell like rain,
They lament, "We wish you’d never left."

But when you rose, they fled in fear,
Their false grief laid bare.
When spring arrives, all will be green again
And the deposed Queen will again reign.

The Mask of Ambition

Seeking to heighten
Your small frame,
On tiptoe, yet you 
Already mock your aim.

For cheating's fleeting gains
Shall swiftly fade,
And leave you poorer
Than when you first did trade.

It's not the feathers
That give birds their flight,
But wings of strength,
That lift them to the light.

Hard work and patience,
These are virtues true,
That shall reward you,
With a success anew.

Life

Life, a moving train, 
With many stops.
Disgorging souls diverse
As it journeys forth.
Yet embracing 
New voyagers
Along its steamy path.
Within its long belly,
Hearts and minds immersed.
Unstopped onward journey, 
So swift and sure!
