Melody of the Darkness Within

The moonlight seeps through the drapes
As the first rain of monsoon pours,
The sweet scent of the ground
Leaves a bold memory in my brain and heart.

Mesmerized by the perfect composition of the earth
The lush creativity and imagination of my mind which are bound
To stay within the closed doors
Of my mind, try to escape.

My 'material' body attempts to remain still
As a whirlpool of thoughts enclosed,
Forms chaos in my mind
At the dead of night while on the pillow I lay.

My brain reflects the events of the day
And they evidently occupy my mind,
As I remain restless even with my eyes closed
They venture into the brain without my heart's will.

Some unknown sadness had overshadowed me,
Since the comforting moonlight has been
Forbidden from entering my bedroom
By being enveloped in nothing,
But darkness by the evil, amorphous, rain clouds.

Although I felt fortunate enough to hear, on the corrugated roof the rain's sound.
The faint sounds of the hooting and screeching
Of the nocturnal creatures I assumed
Then I recalled that the crystal clear view in the morning would be a sight to see.

The mist has left the verdant plains
The rain must have washed away the dusted air from days before.
The virid new leaves shine brightly in the faint sunshine
As the birds twittering in my backyard wake me up from my sleep.

The old thoughts, imprisoned in my mind, will eventually slip
Out and create room for some new thoughts of mine.
The warmth of the sunlight has given me encouragement and motivation to explore
My hopes and dreams and my mind's depth and terrains.

What a Smile Can Hide

My happy face holds many invisible drops of tears
My smiling face holds many unbearable fears.
I keep smiling while dying from inside
I carry on smiling as my smile itself is a lie.

My joyful face holds my day's tiredness from losing
While my heart thinks about still winning.
My cheerful face also wants to cry
But I wear a smile thinking it is worth a try.

What my smiling face can hide
Is a mystery on its own.
But what my crying face means
Is yet to be known.

Maybe I should pour my emotions out
And save my eyes from having a drought.
Because crying is not wrong
It just means we have been strong for too long.

Out of Tune- It's Better To Be Different

The world seems to be discordant lately
The dawn carries with it something to be cherished ,
The mind buoyant with thoughts decorated ornately
Hidden somewhere in the terrains of my heart, already perished .
My mind's inarticulate cry to be heard
As neglected choices were left unmade,
Delaying them seemed to be a better option, I preferred
As my opinions were left unsaid.
The hesitation in lifting the veil of my creativity
Arousing a storm that might offend Others' belief
In my mind, held all day and night in captivity
I follow my ambitions to replace the grief.
For long my voice was hushed and could not find a way
But pulling me down will only make me become my better self They say .

The Winter Sun

The morning fog on a winter day
concealed the trees and hills standing motionless on the other side of the town.
In the warmth of the bright sunshine on a winter day
The timid snowman standing alone in
The snowy land melts down.

In the bleached surroundings of the trees
As tiny as a red berry , the Northern cardinal stands.
Whistling as if saying out loud
The message of Summer coming to protect us from cold.

The squirrel, a permanent inhabitant of the willow tree
Looks up at him from his tiny little hole.
He doesn't seem to care much, as he gets out of his house to bathe in the sunshine &
Take a morning stroll.

Even the Snow smiles in delight
And the Trees nod in agreement
As the Sun rays bring in good hope and light.
The Sunshine has lifted up everyone's spirits
And in a few days I hope
Spring will consider to pay us a visit.

Fitness Beats Pandemic

The one who is fit,
Is the one who will
Reach the summit
So stay safe, stay fit.

This pandemic is like a war
Nobody knows how long it will last
It is like an evil spell a witch has cast .
So we must break this spell
No matter even if we fail.

There is only one way to fight it - with fitness
Even though this fight is going to be intense.
We must fight it with full courage and strength
Our body and mind must be cleansed.

We must do workouts and exercises
And avoid burgers and french fries.
Along with our sisters and brothers
A way to beat this Pandemic, let's discover!

The real meaning of Fitness
Is our mind and body's business
When we jump, hop and run
And most importantly have fun!

Dog- Please Don'T Leave Me

You petted me when I was sick.
You let me sleep in your bed.
But now I am feeling weak.
Without you it is hard to stand.

You brought me to this Heaven of yours.
You opened my eyes so I could see its doors.
But after many sunshines and after many rain pours,
I could see the lonely street where you left me and
The path it follows.

Now I don't wish to see that Paradise of yours again.
As I have no faith in it and would like to experience the pain in Hell.
The whole world has turned upside down to me-
The Heaven contains misery and Hell seems well.

Our Independent India

Our eyes become wet with tears,
Seeing this Independent India.
We cannot imagine those fears
Of families of the people not only fighting on the borders,
But also within the borders.

Despite of race, religion, caste or culture,
When it comes to India, we all come together .
We now live in a country where we speak with our heads high.
Holding the tricolour in hand we oath to raise it high.

Our flag that flies high in the sky,
Waves saffron, white and green.
It shows that we are independent and free
And over the British, we could win.

Muslims and Hindus are brothers,
Bengalis and Punjabis are sisters.

Eternal is Heaven,
Eternal is Land,
Eternal are WE, the creations of God,
Eternal is our good deed as god has planned for us to do.

All these is possible because of those martyrs who
Never lowered their heads in front of the British.

It is a land of priests and sages,
Known for its bravery from ages.
Those struggles against the British represent who we are,
For now we have nothing to fear.

The flying birds in the sky,
The Motherland's beauty,
We thank Thee for Thy goodness,
For giving us prosperity !

Sceptical of Life

With an uncertain decision lingering in my mind
In the midst of life's swirling maze
Compelled to take a decision I find
Myself trying to escape the night's gaze.

My mind like a compass, guiding the heart's gentle voice
The heart whispers softly, pointing its course with pain
Embracing it without any choice
As I navigate my sail of life like a captain .

Crippled by the fears of choosing the wrong
Whether we leave the past or let it linger behind
The choice has frightened me for long
For recalling the Yesterdays will make the Tomorrows hard to find

Imperfections are meant to be embraced
As nothing is promised in life except death
Even if the roads to the destination are left untraced
I will reach the end with my courage and faith.

Maybe I can find the path that lies ahead
By taking a step behind.
The canvas of our lives, waiting to be spread.
Painting it with hopes and ambitions that burdened on my mind

The path adorned with flowers strewn
Inviting me with a chorus of whispers, tempting and sweet
Playing the strings of my life a little out of tune
For now I know that temptations make the destinations hard to meet.

From traveling the winding road of uncertainty
Sceptical of choices to make,
To finally showing courage in the face of adversity
I found that the choices were the best I could take.

The Conference of the Crows

More important than any conference
In the world
Is the conference of the crows.
Which took place
Just outside my balcony at four.
The President of the crows called the others looking troubled.
All came there looking quite muddled .

The President, taking a deep breath, said
 "Caw,Caw,Caw,Caw,Caw,Caw".
Not caring about the people he will wake.
Then the crows, all in harmony, replied,
"Caw, Caw,Caw,Caw,Caw".

Not a single man who woke up
Understood what they said.
But I knew that they were talking about
Dominating the human race.

Book: Shattered Sighs
