Jazmin Kitchen Poem
I know there were girls before me
Girls who broke your heart
When I’m listening to songs and thinking of you
I wonder if you hear the same songs
Do you think about me, or do you think about them
Am I someone you’re struggling to get over
Or is this a piece of cake compared to the last girl
Because I’m dying over here
I know we weren’t that serious
You've dated other girls more seriously
So, while I'm sitting here thinking of you
Are you thinking of the girls before
I tell myself that you liked me
That we didn’t work out because of lifestyle
Not because of attraction
But a voice in my head wonders if that was a lie
The voice asks if that was just something you told me
Because you already found the next girl

Jazmin Kitchen Poem
Your eyes hold my gaze and I let the fire wash over me
We’re caught up in the moment and I could let it last forever
Something as simple as watching TV becomes meaningful
Because I’m leaning against your chest and you’ve got your arms around me
We’ve created a safe place
I love the way you answer the phone
The first time you thought to bring me an extra sweatshirt
Put a lump in my throat
I catch you by surprise and you laugh out loud, uninhibited
I’ll replay that moment in my head a thousand times over the next two weeks
Your brother asked you told hold his wedding ring for him while he went skiing once
You slipped the ring on your finger, not knowing I was watching
I liked how it looked
I like the way you make people feel heard
And when you put your hand on my knee when we’re in the car
I’m always scared for the moment it’s going to end
I relish every moment with you

Jazmin Kitchen Poem
Every time we make a choice
We’re choosing one opportunity over another
With the faith that the choice we are making is the better choice
But sometimes we have to choose between two good things
And I keep getting caught up on the good thing I let go
How do I know that I made the right choice
And how do I reconcile the fact that the other choice is still out there
How do I stop thinking about it
