C.B. Cook Poem
It's my first time riding a unicycle,
I am terrified.
I don't want to let go of this wall
and end up mortified.
My friend had told me it was easy;
Now I know she lied.
She promises she'll be right there
and she's by my side.
I take a breath, I shift my feet,
I pedal just a bit.
The wheel scoots forward, so do I.
Finally, I commit!
I let go, pedaling forward,
I'm finally doing it!
I laugh with joy and stop the cycle.
Now's a good time to quit.

C.B. Cook Poem
Oftentimes I feel I am surrounded by hate that pens me in. Like it's just me, struggling to protect myself from the world's attacks. People around me thrive on negativity, but even when the whole world is covered in the awful darkness of hatred, God's light shines through. I know that I am not alone, and I want others to know that, too. My weapon to fight back those attacks is kindness. A kind word pushes back a circle of light for a friend, pointing them to God's light for them. No matter what hardship you are facing, there is always room for an act of kindness.
Hate is like the sidewalk;
a kind word is a flower
bringing life amid death.
