My Black Ebony Queen

She is a true Black Ebony Queen,
A beautiful black woman that few have seen.
Her beauty is not from her looks, but what she possess on the inside,
And she lets God and wisdom be her guide.

Her style and grace is very rare,
When she walks in the room, everyone can’t help but to stare.
She had dignity and honor in the way she walks,
And she most definitely has a humbleness and boldness when she talks.

She carries herself in a very respectable way,
So that no one will have a bad thing to say.
She has what Willie Clayton called a “Unconditional love”,
And you only get that from one place the heavens above.

She is a true Black Ebony Queen,
A beautiful black sister that few have seen.

She’s not prideful or vain,
She should be placed in the True Black woman hall of fame.
Some may call her stuck up and weak,
Because she is quite and very meek.

You have to push her in a corner for her to really speak out,
And she’s one sister that will let you know what realness is all about.
In order to be her soul mate,
It will take a true Black king to step up to her plate.

She’s a true Black Ebony Queen,
A beautiful black sister that has hopes and dreams.
She may be tall or short and she could be thick or thin,
But this Black Queen will always be rated as a #10.

A true Black Ebony Queen,
Today is rarely ever seen.

Change Me Lord

Change me Lord and make me whole,
Renew my body, mind and soul.
Create in me, a brand new thing,
Wash me on the inside and make me clean.

Take out the junk that’s in my heart,
Please heavenly father, give me a brand new start.
I have always tried doing it my own way,
But dear Jesus I surrender to you my all today.

Change me Lord, my all to you I give,
In your word I truly want to live.
I want your spirit in everything I do,
Io want to be more like you.

I want your spirit to dwell deep inside of me,
I no longer want to be bond, but I want to be totally free.
All things must come to and end,
And I refuse to let the devil win.

I want to eat of your word morning noon and night,
Lord, I want to be pleasing in you sight.
It takes commitment, fasting and prayer,
With a sincere heart, you will be there.

Change me father from the inside out,
Serving you is what it’s all about.
Use me Lord, let me be heard,
I want to help spread your holy word.

On bended knees and a humble heart,
Change me Lord, even if you have to take me apart.
Change me Lord, my body, mind and soul,
I am ready to be made whole.

Never Forget

February is the month that we celebrate our black race,
People from the past who set our pace.
Those who should have been placed in our history book,
But for some reason they were over looked.
Born into slavery or just grew up poor,
But they were determined to accomplish so much more.

First, on our list she was extremely brave,
Harriet Tubman help to free a number of slaves.
She had to come up with a secret move,
So the Underground Railroad is what she used.
Now how do you get rich from products for the hair.
I don’t know, but ask Madam C. J Walker the first black woman millionaire.
Now the 1st black woman aviator was a lady named Bessie Coleman,
And did you know that the stoplight was invented by a black man named Garrett Morgan.

Now hanging in the sports hall of fame,
Jackie Robinson is this baseball player name.
This list goes on and on,
Some are still living, but some has gone home.
There’s one, who truly paved the way,
If not for him, we wouldn’t be where we are today.
He marched from City to state,
And never once did he teach about hate.

The renowned Dr. Martin Luther King,
All of his marches and his well known speech “Let Freedom Ring”.
There’s plenty more that should be in a Hall of Fame.
But there’s not enough time to call them by name.
So let’s stand up and be proud of our race and who we are,
Because from slavery and racism we have come so far.

Lifes Highway

I’ve been traveling life highway for so many years,
Some days were laughter and some days were tears.
Some days I would be so happy and acting like a clown,
Then there were some days you wouldn’t want me around.

I have seen my friends slowly pass away,
And I sometimes wonder when is it going to be my day.
I have seen people take a huge fall,
From having everything, to having nothing at all.

I’ve seen babies crying because they have been neglected,
Used, abused and left naked.
Naked, because no one care,
Naked on the inside, because no reasonable adult was there.

So much pressure & stress being placed in our lap,
That I have seen the strongest person just snap.
I have traveled this highway for so many years,
And along this highway, I’ve had plenty of fears.
Fears of not knowing the unknown,
Some of us have the fear of just being alone.

They say what don’t kill you, only makes you strong,
But there are some days I think that statement is wrong.
But one statement that I know is true,
And that is God will see you through.

While you’re traveling this highway of life,
Let me give you one piece of advice.
Ditches, cracks and even a pot hole or two you may hit,
But whatever you do, don’t give up and please don’t quit.

Country Living

City life use to be the life for me,
But I found out that country life is truly the place to be.
Seeing an old barn sitting on top of the hill,
Or watching a mule plowing the field.

Riding the 4 wheeler over acres of land,
While thinking about your future plan.
Watching the kids swim in the old muddy pond,
Seeing the smile on their face while their laughing and having fun.

Getting up early to feed the hogs,
And opening the door to a yard full of hunting dogs.

Country living feels so right,
Even more when you can sit on your porch late at night.
When you can look up in the sky and see nothing but the moon and stars,
No hussle or bussle or fast moving cars.

The echo of crickets in the still of the night,
Man does country life feel so right.
But there’s one thing that defiantly is the best,
When you walk into Granny’s kitchen and the table is dressed.

Meat, cakes, pies and some country greens,
Just sitting here thinking about it makes my belly sing.
Family gathered together like it’s a holiday,
I give anything just to live that way.

There Is a Land

Close your eyes and let your imagination roam,
To a place that you may one day call home.
A land where you only think it comes in a dream,
But actually it’s the most beautiful place you ever seen.

There’s a land that is far away,
A land I want to go and live someday.
A place I long to be,
Jesus said he was going away to prepare it for me.

A land where I’ll never grow old,
A place where I can rest my weary soul.
A land where all my tears will cease,
A land filled with love, joy and peace.
A land where I will receive my long white robe and crown of life,
A land with no more hate and strife,

A land flowing with milk and honey,
A place where I don’t have to worry anymore about a house, car or money.
A land where sickness and pain will no longer abide,
A land where I can walk and talk with Jesus physically at my side.

A land with no more drugs or homeless people sleeping on the street,
No more hunger or people without shoes on their feet.
In order to make it to this land,
You have to hold to Gods unchanging hand.

Read and do Gods holy word,
Don’t go by what you see or what you have heard.
If you go by what the bible say,
Then you will see that beautiful land one day.

Do You Know

Some of you don't know the power that God has,
But don't be ashamed to just step up and ask.
But I'm here on this very day,
To let you know that God will mak a way.

He made a way for me one day,
But I had to humble myself and really pray.
Now you'll lift your hands and prasie him to,
After I tell you just what my God can do.

Through Moses he delivered the children out of Pharaoh hand,
And by Joshua he took them to the promise land.
He made Abraham great among all men,
And he was with Daniel in the lion den.

He brought Lot out of Sodom and Gororrah,
And for Paul and Silas he open the prison door.
Through Josuha he tore down the walls of Jerchio,
And he walked in the fire with Shadrack, Neshack and Abligo.

He delivered Jonas out of the belly of a whale,
He even walk one day in the pits of hell.
He called Lazarus from his grave,
And he told Nicodemus how to be saved.

Remember the woman, who touched Jesus robe,
And he turn and said your faith has made thee whole.
By his word he calmed the ragging sea,
And at the cross he hung his head for me.

Now what else do I have to say,
In order to show you that God will make a way.
In your life he made old death behave,
And gave you a second chance to be saved.

What he did then, he can do it now,
But you ask I wonder how.
With a bowed down head and a lift of your voice,
Just proclaim today that you make Jesus your choice.

Julius Adams

In the remembrance of
Julius Adams (my father)
February 4, 2004

Have you had a feeling so strong?
That something that day was going to go wrong.
Well, I’ll never forget that gloomy day,
When I got a call that my dad had passed away.

I remember picking up the phone,
And hearing my brother Garron say, “Dad is gone”.
It felt like my heart had jus dropped,
And at that moment my whole world had stopped.

I didn’t know if I should cry or scream,
I wanted to believe it was just a dream.
This was a man, who was my best friend,
A man who stuck by me through thick and thin.

You see it’s something between a father and son,
But in this case, dad and I had a very special bond.
Loosing my dad is a hurt I can’t explain,
I know my life will never be the same.

I’m trying so hard to be brave,
But all my hopes and feelings were buried in his grave.
My happiness and all my love,
Is gone now with my dad above.

Image In the Mirror

Who’s that woman, who stands in the mirror?
She cries for help, but no one hers her.
The image on the other side,
Reflex the pain she holds inside.

She has a look of despair applied on her face,
As she looks at her body from head to waist.
Who’s that woman, who stands in the mirror,
Why is it so hard for people to hear her.

She looks in the mirror and asks herself why?
Because she feels like life has passed her by.
Her skin of bronze and her long black hair,
But deep inside she feels no one care.

She probes for questions that’s in her mind,
But the answers she can not even find.
Who’s that image in the two glass,
Is it my present, future or past.

So much turmoil in her inner soul,
That it’s making her emotion so hard and cold.
Who’s is this woman that I can see,
It’s hard to believe that this image is me.

You see her in public and could never tell,
That deep inside, she’s going through hell.
She smiles and takes the punches and blows,
And comes to the conclusion that’s the way life goes.

A Man In Our Town

There’s a man in our town from Galilee,
And I know for a fact he can set you free.
This man is like a pure white pearl,
And he walked among the prophets in this world.

One day he changed water to wine,
And one day he made some evil spirits go into a heard of swine.
With 2 fish and 5 loafs of bread,
5,000 hungry folks this man had fed.

I heard them say “I’ve got to go and see”,
This man in town from Galilee.
Everything stops at his will,
He once told the storm peace be still.

By his word he made the lame to walk,
And the dumb to talk.
Yes, there’s a man here from Galilee,
And he came to save you and me.

He wasn’t a big time pastor or a college scholar,
And he’s the only man that ever walked on water.
The bible says that every tongue will confess and you will bow on your knee,
To this man from Galilee.

I heard that salvation is free,
Just go and ask the man from Galilee.
He was sent here for one mission,
To heal the world of it bad condition.

This was a glorious man from Galilee,
Who gave up his life on Calvary.
