People posting, sharing their stuff
As people scroll through
They can get enough.
Your smiles
Your laughs
We see it all,
There is no need
For that crystal ball.

Why not keep quiet,
Privacy is treasure.
Why is it so important
To share your sadness
Or your pleasure.

People you dont know,
They gorge on your stuff.
The keyboard warrior arises,
They can't tell
When enough is enough.
They spin it this way
So it serves their purpose.
Afraid to show their faces,
They hide behind the curtains

Privacy is my treasure
And I will guard it with my life.
So you wont see any pictures
Of my kids, me or my wife.

But if you want to see me,
Or pop round for a chat
You know where I live
You know where I'm at.
Dont be afraid
To knock at my door,
I love the company
I wish ot would happen much more

That Time of Year Again

It's that time of year once more,
Where we gather with family and loved ones.
With the glow of the tree lights
We laugh and we sing
About all the good tidings
That this season will bring

But good tidings won't arrive
For those who struggle to survive
In their box from bin
Empty from the gift within
It's their home on the street
People walk on by without a glance
Not even a care
That this home doesn't even cover their feet

So spare a thought, or even a gift
For those out there
Who's love they want to give
But with no family, no loved ones to care
This is a burden I'm willing to bear
A blanket, a pillow or even a bed
A wish of a merry Christmas
Is all that needs said.

Them Times

I remember them days
When the bunting was hung.
From lampost to gate post
Was the thing to be done
Mis-matched tables
All together in a row.
Covered in tablecloths
Union jacks on show

All of the neighbors
Making sandwiches and treats.
I remember being so eager
To get my seat.
Then all of us would smile,
For there was so much food
We would be here for a while.

After we had eaten all that we can,
That's when the real fun and games began.
Mothers and fathers
All tied at the knee.
Racing each other was so funny to see.
We would race,
But stood in a sack.
I don't think I ever made it there and back.

The fun would continue
Right into the night.
With fun and laughter
And not one single fight.
I miss them times,
I want them back,
With my table full of food
And my union jack.

Just Maybe

As I look out from my tired eyes
Full of sadness, and disbelief
This crazy world that is full
Of 24/7 matters of urgency
That that no one seems to see
The pain and suffering of others
Their blind.. They don't see

Rushing around, device moulded to ear
Everyone talking but no one can hear
The winds have changed
Our negative perception
Will kill our brain
But look beyond yourself
And you will see
By just one gesture
Or a thought for others
We all become family,
We all become brothers

Just think for one moment
If this was to happen
The world would open up
The barriers would flatten
We are all one people
We are strong and proud
We put aside all the negative things
And all join hands
For to do this
Would bring peace to our lands

Sarah

I will give you everything,
i will give you my all.
I am there for you forever,
I will catch you if you fall.

I still pinch myself
Everyday that i wake.
When i turn to see your face
I know that i am safe.

I'm so proud of you
And who you are.
My soulmate and best friend
you're my shining star

So i thought i would try
and put into words and say,
My love for you
Grows stronger each day

Silent Struggle

I see the faces that I pass every day
The stressed parents
watching their kids play
So much innocence in the kids eyes
The energy of life that comes from all of their smiles
And yet the pain they dont know
And the struggles they dont see
Is kept away from them
Parents wont let it show,
They wont let them see

They dont hear the parents cry
Because they need a food bank to get by
The queue is full of people that shouldn’t be there
The air is so thick with their sadness and a feeling of failure
A sense they have lost their sense pride which for which they hold dear
But when they get home to the hungry little brood
All happy to see you, that changes your mood
You feel the smile start to appear
And it reminds you the best place is right here
For all the troubles we are all feeling,
The ones that are with you all day
You think you cant shift them
They wont go away.
Just take a look at your child’s smile
And keep this thought in your mind.
You made this beautiful person
In a time now behind
You have taught them your love
You have taught them to be kind
You have their love and a sense of pride
So hold your head up high
Push your chest out with pride
You have done well my friend
So enjoy the ride

Friends

No one knows, they dont see me cry

Even my friends become strangers

Who walk on by

I keep it all in and listen to their pain

With no thought for myself

Ill do it again

But I wish one day that somebody will see

The sadness devouring every part of me.

It's always there but no one knows

Keep calm and carry on

As the saying goes

So here i am, I've put it all out there

My true friends will hear me

They will sense my despair

Some will come

But may wont hear

Soon i will know

Which friends i hold dear

The One

What you do for me
Can be written by no pen.
From the morning light
To the end of day
There are no words that can say.
Your my reason for living
You are why I draw a breath.
Your loving eyes
They draw me in.
They wrap me in comfort
I can feel it from within.
Sarah, I love you with all my heart
That little kitchen was the start
Of everything beautiful
We have done since then.
So 10 years on I still feel the same
And it shows no slowing
I would do it all again
