A Noisy House

A noisy House

Banging, clanging
screaming, squealing
babies crying

Mothers shouting
Keep quiet!

Dancing, singing
jumping, thumping
grannies munching

Mothers shouting
keep quiet!

Chatting, laughing
clapping, slapping
children scratching

Mothers shouting
keep quiet!...........

I sit here
in this noisy house
in a far corner
as quiet as a mouse

With pencil and book
and Ipod in ears
writing my poems
where nobody cares.

New Dreams

The ending of an old week
the beginning of a new month
and the memories of an old hour.

The dawning of a new day
the setting of an old sun
and the rising of a new star.

A perfect year has begun
your dreams lay not afar.

Start it with a smile
and make this coming year
a year worthwhile!

Hey people...soooo sorry I wasn't here to read all of your lovely poems in a long while,
I've been really busy with school....I wish you all a happy new year and I hope it brings
lots more wonderful poetry as well....I missed you all!....:).......love always, Maryam

Open Your Eyes

Part not ever
from your dreams
for it's not as far
as it seems

Think not ever
that it's too far away
for at this very moment
it's floating your way

Just open your eyes
it can be true
the time is here
but it's up to you

For many have dreamt
but were always asleep
they could not see
what was there to reap.

The Dark Side of Love

She sat,
sinking into the darkness
of gloom and sadness
He passed with a sudden glance
her eyes lit up
a faint smile appeared,
but slowly faded
A teardrop fell.

Inside

Inside

To stand you anymore
my head will burst
you're rotten to the core
and maybe even worst

My eyes are closed
I can't stand your sight
just get out and leave
before we start to fight

What you are inside
is a true disgrace
but you hide it all
behind that face

To people and folks
you seem innocent
but to me you are
so crooked and bent

Just go away
I can't stand your sight
move from here
before we start to fight.

Ice-Cream Flavours

Ice-cream Flavors

For a taste of ice-cream flavors
let's start with chocolate

A dip into the world of love
with a sense of tingle from above

Vanilla brings a sweetness to the tongue
and turns upside down every single frown

Take a deep breath in every bite
for butterscotch ice-cream is just right

Take a dance in the milky way
as you taste a caramel ice-cream sundae

Taste all the flavors on your tongue
take a plunge in each world
a dance in each town

Each taste is unique
with its own special spark
a yummy little thing
that brings you out of the dark.

Grandpa

Grandpa

      Telling me always
      about the old world
      trying to make me
      an understanding girl.

             I love You
   None can ever replace you.

A Lover's Prayer

A lover's prayer

Oh lord, please listen to me
I know how much you've blessed me
But you are the controller of all feelings
Everything we do and the form of all things
You know how I feel, my heart is crying
I'm in despair, my soul is dying
Only you lord can hear my plea
Please help me control my destiny
My heart is broken, like a shattered window
Yet I've told no one, so afraid for them to know
I keep it a secret, try to sing a merry song
But lord you know it won't last very long
You're the owner of my fate
I beg of you, help me before it's too late
The owner of my feelings, owner of my heart
Please help me now, or I'll be torn apart.

Friends Forever

Friends Forever

Little did I know
that so early
you'll leave and go

A friend like you
is so hard to find
yet you left so quickly
leaving me behind

It was not your choice
but God's own will
he took your soul
and made you still

To heaven he called you
indeed a better place
there he'll keep you
with love and grace

From this world you are gone
yet still, in my heart
you will live on,
forever.

Dedicated to my 11 year old friend Shaniece who died on Tuesday in a car accident. You
will always be there in my heart.....*Love Maryam
