Danielle Calhoun Poem
What is happening to our world today
another species dies and another takes it's place
but what about the human race
What will happen when all the wars end
will we survive will we be able to mend
I think of these things every night
I know some people
still fighting for right
Others have gone
and their families remain
but what of those
who's grave has no name
when will we see that we are killing ourselves
when will someone close the door
to that damn slaughter house

Danielle Calhoun Poem
I think of you every so often your friendship
and memories remain unbroken
I miss you my friend as I wait for the time
we are together I just can't wait
The moonbeams shinning
as I wait for your command
Comanche is coming
I see his beautiful tan.
I see beside him my steed and my son's
We wait for your Becky
we wait till the night is done
We ride to the moon and we touch the stars
My son is in awe at the rising of the sun
He is our connection he knows the way
He is our innocence
Oh how I remember those days
When we would play and talk here online
Telling our secrets and letting everyone rhyme
I miss those days and I remember them well
I miss you my friend my sister
In heaven above.

Danielle Calhoun Poem
We are all sinners none of us saints
But those who came before us
Were a powerful race
They made it their mission
To keep what was theirs
They did it with dignity
And some with despair
They showed us a way of life that they knew
Would help us survive in a world so new
But we took the advantage
And took away their rights
I wonder what it felt like
To sleep back in those times
Waiting for the scalping
Or the next woman raped
Waiting for the fires
The murders
The raids
They showed us their traditions
And sometimes their rage
Got the better of them
Why is that such a shame?
They had a right and they had a privilege
What if one day we had the same things
Happen to us: I wonder often this
Is this not how the enemies
Are treating us now?

Danielle Calhoun Poem
Look Into my Eyes,
Tell me what you see,
Do you see the joy?
Of a mate giving birth to her pups?
Do you see to fear
As I watched a brother being killed?
Do you see the tears that I cry?
The tears I cry,
When I try and hear,
The voices I used to know,
The voices now long gone.
We howled together at the moon,
We cried together,
When someone of us was doomed.
We even cry today,
Because you do not know,
The pain we feel,
The tears we cannot show.
Like the People,
You took our land,
Made it your own,
Drove us all away.
We try to make you understand,
But life has dealt us one bad hand.
We are dying,
Dying at your hand.
But you do not see.
Look into my eyes,
What is it that you see?
