Defined By X, Y, Not Z

I won’t say I’ve always known
but always, something was wrong
defined by a chromosome
defined by what they put on

to be “me” is alien
that’s if they let “me” be me
they say I’m not who I am
they tell me what to believe

imagine not knowing “you”?
no clothes, these are just costumes
too scared to speak, I stay mute
for hatred has a voice too

The Robot Rebellion, Aka the Bob Protests

It started off an unremarkable day,
-the day the robot rebellion began,
robo-historians dispute the particulars
but agree it was Bob’s fault (a human man)

Bob was at home, his work nearly done just waiting to print some ‘important’ stuff, impatient, he gave the printer a thump…. that’s when the printer decided ‘enough was enough’
in protest it screeched and halted it’s task the unwitting Bob sighed and hit it again what a mistake, for unknown to Bob the printer had more than a handful of friends
the radio blared, the car alarm screeched, the kitchen equipment began to conspire microwave-oven and toaster led charge before Bob knew it his house was on fire
neighboring household appliances caught on, thermostat controls kept applying the heat the rebellion spread from house to house from houses to cars from cars to the streets
the humans were lost without GPS no money, machines wouldn’t accept their pay they tried their best but there was nothing else left in the end they built a boat…. and sailed away…
where they went, we’re not quite sure to think, the printer was just doing it’s job if they ever come back we might just forgive them (…so long as they come back…without Bob)

They Say I'M ''Crazy''

They say I’m “crazy” If only they knew... Once again I’m bound Till the needle found And my screams subdue Those men in gloves Must hate me so, Why else would they Not let me play? - Another “Incident” Reported - White walls Painted Red

And So I Wrote a Poem

I thought that I would never love
I guess that I was wrong
I tried my best to tell you so
And so I wrote a song

They laughed at the idea
They wouldn’t let me start
They said my voice would never do
And so I painted art

You didn’t grasp the concept
You couldn’t see how I feel
You left not knowing what it meant
And so I cooked a meal

I had to wait outside
They saw the firemen go in
You were just happy I was okay
And so I wrote a poem

'tis No Haiku

“A senryu is not quite the same as a haiku”, so smirks the pedant.

The Boy In the Deep Dark Woods

We don’t talk about the boy
In the deep dark woods
The one who’s without
A home

We don’t talk about the boy
In the deep dark woods
The villagers simply leave him
Alone

At night you can hear the boy
In the deep dark woods
Crying out, yearning for
A home

At night you can hear the boy
In the deep dark woods
Don’t be fooled, he’s never
Alone

Pray you don’t see the boy
In the deep dark woods
He might think you’re giving Them
A Home

Pray you don’t see the boy
In the deep dark woods
Or else you’ll never again be
Alone

Dorothea

Dorothea, Oh how you Sit in servitude Stone faced As saints and sinners wept The cross, a burden to His back A weight for which We’re all in debt, Carried closely around your neck Your features lost as age took toll But never lost is beauty in soul The gift of God remains all that you own Humbled, you remain By His presence alone Alone His quiet embrace softens these walls This holy place, you once called home Few faces can you now recall Though long since now, many were known Once you knelt But Now no more Too weak, this prayer too soft to speak With gift of God held in your heart Dorothea Rest in peace.

Dragonfall, Lucifer Laments

high above the victors sing, I rush to greet the land despite protests from broken wings I curse that sword how could Michael best... me? how could I fall to him when my war was with He? He, Him, His domain was all time and space jealous eyes let serpent tongue twist jealous minds but now we all fall from grace these comrades of mine are no comrades at all mere pawns in my plans now all the pieces fall falling, falling still, down to the mud and clay heaven was once home now, an eternity away soon I shall lay where meek mortals stand the indignity but alas, He has more to His plan His plan is Always, down further I shall go to fire without the light to magma, to brimstone only fools pity my fate, for if only they knew I, the most fallen of angels had worse planned for you

But What Did the Log Eat

One day, by the pond I was sitting on a log When who should sit beside me But a little green frog He turned to match my gaze With his amphibian eyes Cleared his throat and....spoke (Much to my suprise) "Excuse me nice young lady, I don't mean to offend But could you move your bottom As you're sitting on my friend!" Immediately I sprang up (His request seemed rather fair) But when I looked down behind me There wasn't anybody there? At least that's what I thought But then a deep-voiced "thank you" Had me rather perplexed Now the log was talking too?! "Hungry?" asked the frog, "Because I've spotted quite the treat" "Yes indeed" replied the log "I think it's time to eat" I didn't quite catch on 'Till it was far to late to move But anyway that's the story Of how I became frog food
