Rain

The Cold breeze against the window pane
Shatters it in vain,
It’s a monsoon rain,
broken heart in a broken body makes no sound, let's hear it out aloud,
Here comes the drops steady and soft, falling from a sky of peace and mercy.
I bathed my skin in the rain lightly, taking careful notice not to touch the bruises that shattered my body.
I closed my eyes over and over, each time dragging myself back to my nightmare.
People say don't you talk about it, it's way too private,
Still I stand hear as I talk about it, that touch that night was way inappropriate.
I stumble upon the memories as I sit here recollecting the monstrous face of mankind.
Standing in the cold, cold rain, feet shivering as soon as another breeze passes by.
Could feel every single drop touching my face, as I stood there, aggressively rubbing off his imprints over my body.
In hope, I'd be pure again,
As my tears roll down my cheeks, shuddering by the thought of it.
I wailed, couldn't let mama papa know about my pain.
It’s a monsoon rain,
Covering up my grief to not lose it all.
It wasn't my fault at all,
I'm a girl, just a girl,
Who was the monster after all ?
The bruises will remind me of a time, I had lost it all.
I'll be strong some day,
But for today, I'll just let the rain hit my face and tell myself,
Don't give up girl, just a day, just a night to go, don't lose yourself, Just hold on a day more, just a day more.

People Like Us

People like us,
Whose eyes lighten up
While swaying to pop music,
Who finds peace in the starry skies,
Who would rather stay in than partying out.
Who finds comfort in the little things
As simple as a hello from the person
we really care about.
We pour our hearts out for people
Who mean the world to us.
We aren’t the ones who leave,
We are the people who get left.
Who stay behind picking up the
Pieces of their broken hearts,
Putting it back in place,
Only for it to break again.
We are the people who
Love a person unconditionally,
To an extent that it gets difficult to breathe.
We may lash out,
Not on the world,
But on ourselves.
Counting flaws inside us,
That made them leave us.
You know,
We don’t deserve people
Who make us suffer,
Who strangle us.
We deserve someone
Who would walk the extra mile for us,
Someone who would ensure that
We are at peace,
Someone who would end the fight,
Just so we could sleep peacefully at night,
Instead of wondering whatever the ’s wrong with us.
We need people like us,
People who find their comfort in us,
Who find their peace in our hearts,
And not in the world.
A person who wouldn’t betray us,
Stab us in the back
When we are expecting it the least.
We deserve someone who brings in candid happiness,
Who doesn’t want to look at anyone else in the world,
Because for them, we’ll be enough,
For them, we’ll be perfect,
Despite our abilities to fall for a love that consumes us.
Some day, we will be fortunate enough,
To fall in love with someone who loves like us,
The kind of love,
That wouldn’t choke us,
The kind of love,
That’s rare.
The kind of love,
That’s beautiful.
Some day,
We’ll fall for a person like us.
