People Like Us

People like us, Whose eyes lighten up While swaying to pop music, Who finds peace in the starry skies, Who would rather stay in than partying out. Who finds comfort in the little things As simple as a hello from the person we really care about. We pour our hearts out for people Who mean the world to us. We aren’t the ones who leave, We are the people who get left. Who stay behind picking up the Pieces of their broken hearts, Putting it back in place, Only for it to break again. We are the people who Love a person unconditionally, To an extent that it gets difficult to breathe. We may lash out, Not on the world, But on ourselves. Counting flaws inside us, That made them leave us. You know, We don’t deserve people Who make us suffer, Who strangle us. We deserve someone Who would walk the extra mile for us, Someone who would ensure that We are at peace, Someone who would end the fight, Just so we could sleep peacefully at night, Instead of wondering whatever the ’s wrong with us. We need people like us, People who find their comfort in us, Who find their peace in our hearts, And not in the world. A person who wouldn’t betray us, Stab us in the back When we are expecting it the least. We deserve someone who brings in candid happiness, Who doesn’t want to look at anyone else in the world, Because for them, we’ll be enough, For them, we’ll be perfect, Despite our abilities to fall for a love that consumes us. Some day, we will be fortunate enough, To fall in love with someone who loves like us, The kind of love, That wouldn’t choke us, The kind of love, That’s rare. The kind of love, That’s beautiful. Some day, We’ll fall for a person like us.

yes, Someday! "We aren’t the ones who leave," - beautiful line in regard to the theme. I also never left. Nicely written. - Marshall
