Sunrise

I awake and look at you, the Sun rising from the east reminds me of your smiling eyes,
Inflamed with passion yet soft and sparkling, reflecting rays of love as you smile at me, our lips embrace, our bodies entwine.

A cloudless bright blue sky and the charming golden Sun enveloping us as we walk hand in hand across serene white sands, birds singing dawns early chorus as we lay a heart shaped pattern of pristine white stones around our names written in sand.

I deliver a plethora of kisses to your soft, delicate lips and smile, holding you in my arms as we bathe in the gentle waves of a crystal blue ocean.

Nothing could ever compare to the love we have, and as we watch the Sun set I reflect on a feeling of love I have never felt before, nor will again, you are love in all it's glory and every last beat of my heart belongs to you.

The Tortoise That Barked

My Tortoise started barking
so I took it for a walk,
I put him on a little leash
which made the neighbours talk,
I threw a tiny stick for him
in the local park,
but by the time he brought it back,
it was getting pretty dark,
I taught him how to sit and beg,
give me his front paw,
he goes and fetches all the mail
when it comes through the door,
all the things I've taught him,
are I think pretty swell,
he looks at me, shakes his head
and goes into his shell.

I Saw a Hippopotamus

I saw a Hippopotamus going to the fair,
wearing pink pyjamas with a bow up in his hair,
he was followed by a Zebra who was wearing bright
blue socks,
a Chimp and a Koala bear, wearing matching frocks,
they climbed into the teapots looking quite a sight,
and a little old man spat out his teeth as they gave him quite a fright!

Meet Me By the River

Meet me by the river
Underneath a starlit sky,
Where the magic of the moonlight
Is captured in your eyes,
I'll tell you what you mean to me,
And how I love you so,
How you and I are meant to be,
My heart eternally aglow

Lay with me into the night until
the light of dawn,
As songbirds come a singing
as they do with each new morn

You are to me the sweetest rose
whose petals embrace me,
So pleased am I the one you chose,
Forever we will be

The Busker

The air fills with familiar tunes eminating from a flaking dusky red piano, it's master's majestic touch of mitten clad fingers are a sight to behold as they dance sprightly upon ebony and ivory with vibrant tonality.

Strangers amass to witness a crescendo of notes rhythmically blended to produce an ear pleasing multitude of genre encompassing numbers, each one with it's own story to tell as smiles are raised by reminiscing onlookers.

A gracious nod acknowledging the sound of assembled coinage thrust into a warped aged saucepan placed alongside a chrome thermoflask filled with aromatic African flavour, applause aplenty greet the ending of the show as the lid closes on another days play.

The Beach

An assemblage of golden rays adorn a becalmed blue ocean,
glistening as a bright new dawn greets us, reminiscent of your beautiful enlightened eyes when they meet mine.

A plethora of pristine White sand moves deftly between our toes as we traverse hand in hand towards the edge of serene waves, inviting us to enter it's blissful shallow depths.

Nearby a gregarious pat of Flamingos wade delicately, their natural beauty is that of yours,
a joy to behold, a vision of pure love, ecstatic am I the one to embrace it.

Our bodies entwined I caress your beauteous face, gently I stroke your silken hair as you give me your enrapturing eternal smile, I have but one question, "will you take my hand in marriage?"

"Yes".

Solitude

I sit alone, in my mind intertwined thoughts present themselves en mass of how to entertain myself and yet I dare not move.

Rules of isolation reflecting in deserted streets, measures of social distance somewhat adhered to, empty supermarket shelves leave me bereft of choice.

Weekly family visits now a vacant space in my once filled diary, I know not when normality shall resume, if at all.

Boredom arises and I am attuned to the same routine, phone in hand I peruse updates to when, if I can resume occupational objectives with the same impending outcome, I am becoming embittered with authority but I must obey,
this is not forever.

Darling Son

This poem is written for a friend who is like a Sister to me and lost her son who was aged just 9. I have her permission to share.

Darling Son, though you are gone,
Your soul remains so bright,
Our first born boy,
You brought so much joy,
From morning through to night.

You are to us the brightest star,
That never fades away,
The one that is so near yet far,
And guides us on our way.

We love you more than words can say,
You're forever in our hearts,
Our memories will stay that way,
As they have right from the start.

Tell Me

Tell me would you walk with me underneath the starlit sky,
Along the barron esplanade as the moonlight meets your eyes,
I'll hold your body close to mine,
Kiss your sweet lips gently,
And watch the ocean sparkle,
As we embrace tenderly.

Tell me in the meadows,
Where we lay amongst the corn,
Can I serenade you,
Until the light of dawn,
I'll sing you songs of Cupid's bow,
Whose arrows flew with love,
The moment that I saw you they were shot from high above.

Flower Girl

Your smiling eyes greet me like the glistening morning dew,
As I gaze upon sweet roses as beautiful as you

As you walk amongst the tulips with a daisy in your hair,
Skip and dance and sing a song,
Living life without a care

We walk together hand in hand through pastures lush and green,
And wait for Summer's sunset,
So peaceful and serene

Petals fall from high above, you say to me 'I do',
Our love it is eternal,
I'll forever stand by you
