Ebony Sky

Your thoughts are getting darker
and you’ve withdrawn into yourself,
you’ve become so very quiet
and you’re not your usual self.

The clouds of sorrow have arrived
and completely filled your mind,
where lonely isolation
is all that you will find.

Dark shadows form around you
as you feel the deepest fear
and your heart starts pounding through your chest,
now you know the black dogs near.

The stars have fallen from your sky
with blackness far and wide
and no one sees the turmoil
that’s churning up inside.

With emotions scrambled every where
and your thoughts now not your own,
just know I’m here beside you, 
so you don’t have to fight alone

My ears are here to listen.
 My arms are here to hold.
My shoulder’s yours to cry on.
With my heart to warm your soul.

I’ll hold your hand and guide you, 
though I can’t take away your pain,
I’ll listen until my ears bleed,
If it helps you smile again.

As Long As I Obey

My favourite bunch of flowers
with a loving little note,
he didn’t mean to hurt me
was the message that he wrote.
I know that he is sorry,
he tells me every day,
so a happy loving house wife 
is the role I still convey.
No one knows our secret
or the shame I sometimes feel
and his sudden angry outburst’s
are what we keep concealed,
I tell my friends and neighbours
I had a clumsy fall
and cover up the damage
with a picture on the wall.
I know he really loves me,
he tells me every day,
“It’s no one else’s business,” 
is what he’d always say.
If I ever tried to leave him,
he said he’d take his life,
“Until I take my dying breath,
you’ll always be my wife.”
It’s like treading over egg shells,
always careful what I say
but I know he really loves me,
he told me yesterday.
He starts out calm and peaceful
but I know the rage is near,
then a sudden storm of anger
consumes the house with fear.
A slave to rage and anger
is all that I’ve become,
I’ve been stripped of all my dignity
and emotionally I’m numb.
My thought are vague and scrambled,
fear and guilt are in control,
while anxious desperation
now  has a strangle hold.
I know he really loves me,
as long as I obey
and the bruises I’ve been given
are the price I have to pay.
I’m petrified by just his stare
and it chills me to the core,
My stomach churns, my nerves are frayed,
I can’t take it anymore.
“I’ll love you until the day I die”
Is what he’d always say,
It doesn’t matter anymore,
I left him yesterday.

Can Someone Tell Me

A thousand tears have fallen 
since we said our last good bye
and I’m searching for some answers,
while I sit alone and cry.

If you were here you’d comfort me
and dry my tears somehow.
So please can someone tell me, 
Who’ll dry my tear drops now? 

With love in your eyes and warmth in your smile  
you enchanted my soul somehow.
Now through the pain can someone explain,
who’ll be my soul mate now?

You captured my heart with the strength of your love
and completed my world somehow.
Now I hope and I pray for the answer,
Who’s going to love me now?

I dream‘t last night that you held me
and I still feel you here with me now,
you whispered that you’d never leave me
and you’ll always be with me somehow.

Battle of Our Hearts

How can you lie so close to me
yet seem so far away?
You ask me what I’m feeling 
but I don’t know what to say.

Words used to come so easy 
and roll right off my tongue
but that was when I’d die for you 
and we were both so young.

We could easily play the blame game
or fight and scream and shout
but that won’t make it better
and it won’t get me out.

How could we start on such a high 
then end on such a low?
I thought I’d stay forever
but now can’t wait to go.

The magic ride we started 
is about to crash and burn,
I still don’t know what happened,
so I guess I’ll never learn.

“All’s fair in love and war,” they say
and you can’t avoid the pain,
so even if you love again 
the  scares will still remain.

We both know that there’s nothing left
of this love we both once shared
and it doesn’t really matter
if you ever really cared

because the battle lines were drawn up
and we both played out our parts.
As we shared our ringside tickets
to the battle of our hearts,

where bitter words were spoken 
and insults thrown about,
where our hearts were torn and broken
once the final bell rung out.

Now that it’s all over,
It’s not hard to understand 
why I’ll never place my heart again
in some one else’s hands .

The silence is deafening
in our private little hell
but even through the hurt and pain,
I can’t help but wish you well.

Hello Brother

John Lennon asked us to imagine,
but I don’t think I can.
How can rampant murder
be part of someone’s plan?

When evil is performed by Muslims
we tarnish all of them with blame.
This killer is  Australian.
Do they think we’re all the same  ?

We can’t un see what we’ve already seen
and we can’t deny the pain
but we can stay calm and end this anger
to stop this happening again.

If we choose wisdom over ignorance,
love instead of hate,
kindness before animosity,
We could call everyone our mate.

We all want love and understanding,
with peace that will endure,
So if the disease of man is hatred,
then surely love must be the cure.

Knights Dream

While I slowly fell asleep last night
all my dreams belonged to you.
as I drifted through the twilight zone
one dream I had seemed true.
I’m a knight in shining armour
in my romantic fairy tale,
to win your heart forever
was to be my holy grail.       
My quest was that I showed you love
you knew was made to last,
a love so strong it healed your heart
and swept aside your past.
You realised I loved you
with a love like none before 
and your heart was saying I’m the one
that you’ve been waiting for.
With my soul full of commitment
and a love the blind could see,
you looked into my eyes to find 
this was your destiny.
As I lay here and I wonder
about the dream I had last night
and the night sky has been broken
by the early morning light ,
there’s just one thing I know for sure
as I wake to face the day,
I know that when I hold you close
it takes my breath away.

So Many Things

When I close my eyes
there’s an image of you,
your cute reserved smile,
your hazel eyes too.
There’s so many things
that I just adore.
The exciting thing is 
there’s still more to explore.
I know it’s still early 
and my love is brand new
but I live for each moment
that I spend with you.
I can’t get enough
I just keep wanting more.
 if you were drug, 
I’d be an addict for sure.
I know you’ve been hurt
and you still feel the pain
and you don’t want to suffer
those feelings again
 but start looking ahead
to what the future may bring
and know what you wish for 
I wish the very same thing.

Only Time Will Tell

I heard the saddest news today
an old friend of mine has passed.
It made me stop and ponder
how life goes by so fast.
It doesn’t seem that long ago
since we shared a social drink
but now I stop and think of it
it’s been longer than I think.
His passing made me realise
just how much our time is worth
and we should live life to the fullest
in this time we have on earth.
We think we have forever
before our last farewell
but no one knows how long we have
and only time will tell.
Like sand slipping through our fingers
time escapes our mortal grasp,
so embrace each simple moment
As though it was your last.
I heard the saddest news today
friend of mine has passed.
