Sister-In-Law

Through time that has past,
I watched my brother grow.
He grew up so fast,
To become the man we now know.
A sibling love is suigeneris,
There for; we become protective.
They are with whom we are the most generous,
And whose words are often the most affective.
It comes from deep inside,
When we wish them the best,
Then consumes us with pride,
As we watch them fulfill that quest.
I knew his search was finally through,
That he had found his true love to embrace.
The first time I saw him with you,
It was written all over his face.
How delightful it is to see him this way,
Clearly your lives were meant to be like this.
So in case I have not told you; just let me say,
I am so proud to have you for a sis!

Grandma's House

Where do you go,
When you can’t eat candy?
Where every kid goes,
Because it’s so handy.
It is not very far,
Plus the door is always open.
With a full cookie jar,
At least I am a hopin’.
Here the food is always free,
Nor do you have to be quiet as a mouse.
It is not a fort in a tree,
Indeed--it is Grandma's house!!

Summer Days

It is finally here,
What we have waited for.
The cause for much cheer,
Is the season we all adore.
Time to dig out the shorts,
Now that summer has begun.
Maybe play some summer sports,
That is always good for some fun.
We can go for a swim,
Or play sand volleyball.
When it is not in a gym,
Is when it is the most fun of all.
We might be hand washing cars,
Maybe we are sleeping in a tent.
We may be gazing at the stars,
Regardless it is outdoors where most time is spent.
Then there are the simple pleasures,
Like a relaxing nap in the shade.
Or the many hidden treasures,
Such as ice cold lemonade.
There are also the events,
From which certain aromas contain.
Providing unmistakable scents,
From fresh cut grass or a warm summer rain.
Enjoy it while you can,
For unfortunately there is no doubt.
Just as quickly as it began,
Summertime will soon run out.
Leaving us to anticipate,
Summers glorious ways.
Yearning for the next chance to participate,
In the wonderful summer days!

Journey of Life

It takes years to create,
Even one considered to be tame.
Still to this date,
There are no two that are the same.
Like a picture show,
That is incomplete.
Destiny in tow,
The journey of life will one day meet.
Throughout this single event,
We will have experiences of both good and bad.
We learn to circumvent,
Then cherish the good times had.
At no time is it ever jaded,
Nor is it fake.
It is never to be evaded,
This is a journey we all must take.

First Snow

Out of the skies above it will fall,
Its purpose is to cover the ground below.
One of the most beautiful sights of all,
Is that first blanket of snow.
When it appears over night,
Is when it is the utmost beautiful.
It is during that first sight,
That everything seems so peaceful.
That moment disappears so fast,
It will be gone two hours into the day.
Becoming a memory of the past,
For it was not meant to stay.
It will snow again this season,
As I am sure you know.
Though for some odd reason,
It is not the same as that first blanket of snow.

Daughter

From the very start,
I always knew.
You had a kind heart,
One that was true.
My values you would possess,
Taking with you every word I ever said.
With each new success,
You would move ahead.
I knew all along,
You would be all right.
For you are so strong,
With a future that is so bright.
How you have grown,
And become so mature.
I could not ever have known,
Just how much--that is for sure.
My sorrow will subside,
My worries I will put to rest.
As I look at you with pride,
And I wish you all the best.

Dad

You made me what I am today,
A person that is strong.
In so many a way,
We are where we belong.
When I was a little tot,
I looked up to you.
By your side was my spot,
I wanted to do everything with you.
Through my eyes,
An idol is what I would see.
One that was wise,
That is who I always wanted to be.
As time moves on,
Life seems to get strange.
Soon you will be gone,
My life then would forever change.
Just like friends that move away,
We too would grow apart.
No longer knowing how to say,
What we feel in our heart.
It is too bad,
About the way it is now.
The feeling of always being sad,
I am sure can be healed somehow.
By bringing up the past,
We bring back all the pain.
Wondering how long it will last,
We try to refrain.
Now comes the hard part,
Hoping for something we already had.
You are forever in my heart,
Always remember that Dad.

Just In Time

You came along,
During my time of need.
Just like in a song,
My sorrow you freed.
I had given up on love,
Despite my many endeavors.
Though thanks to God above,
My chance for love would not sever.
Then the day came when we met,
It was like it was meant to be.
A day we would never forget,
The beginning of you and me.
Just when I thought I would be alone,
By myself forever.
That thought I will condone,
For my chance did not sever.
Happy to know you,
My spirits begin to climb.
I thank God for bringing me to you,
For it happened just in time.

Springtime

Children running about,
As days start to extend.
New life begins to sprout,
And colors seem to blend.
The skies so serene,
Become a special treat.
The air smells crisp and clean,
Flower's blooms smell so sweet.
As birds sing their song,
Children outside begin to play.
Though the wait seemed long,
Winter has finally gone away.
It is now springtime,
Everything begins anew.
With temperatures on the climb,
There is much to pursue.
I am sure we all assent,
To the feeling we share.
It is within a springtime event,
That no other time can compare.

Youth

I have reached the stage,
That fails to amuse to me.
It is the beginning of old age,
Or so it seems to be.
Like many-I often think it is unfair,
That our youth goes by so fast.
Though I am fully aware,
That youth is not meant to last.
There are many that try to deny it,
But it happens to us all.
Once there--each one of us will admit,
It is youth we enthrall.
So many people say,
“You’re only as old as you feel”.
I say “if it would only stay”,
That would be a heck of a deal.
But within each passing year,
My youth continues to subside.
Until one day it will be crystal clear,
My old age will no longer be able to hide.
Happening almost over night,
Old age will attack.
And I will loose the fight,
Of trying to gain some youth back.
