A collaboration with Ink Empress, a piece we wrote for “Woman’s Day” for all the strong women warriors out there. Your strength is felt.
“Untamable Clemency”
Her heart is a
chained haven,
for zestless intruders
and fiendish foes,
so tread delicately,
she is not a
mindless marionette
in your glistening
gallery of greed—
glazed in rhinestone
rhapsodies,
she is more
than cold-boned ideologies,
placed by timeless seasons,
she soars above
restrained reveries,
as an untamable heat
of clemency.

Sunlight over receding sea, small waves born.
Thawing frozen clouds drenched with rain.
Leaves sparkled where motley was worn.
Breeze through golden twilight again.
Delivered a calming blow to the restless,
Fluting never ceases and is zestless.
Nature's grace often leaves me speechless,
We are in awe of her rich color scheme.
Birds pondering in their nests by the stream,
Sliding down a frail stalk-like shadow dream.
Serenading with pleasure rather than scorn,
With such exquisite food, no one feels pain.
The crashing waves soothe me, I walk breathless.
Calmed in my heart, I muse on nature's gleam.

A walk-in solitude, putting one foot
over the other, stepping over roots
to listen to the flutes of nature lutes
and silent subtle shift that are afoot.
Away from mental incessant chatter,
solace for the fractious mind. A matter
of time, a sense of elation scatter
and the will to feel the fatigue shatter.
A shaded path tucked away in slumber
in surrounding walls of dark and umber
trees, woody vines, shrubs, and beast that lumber
a realm of nirvana in poised wonder.
Sitting on the ashen limbs and trendless
full of sculptured green, wood thrush nest, restless.
In air a reward glimmer of breathless
hope in a grove of balm doth shine zestless.
Treading determinedly upward, the tree
sunshade is thinning, revealing a sea
of cadet blue sky, glorious to see.
Leaving the world behind upon the breeze.

SAFE BUT BORED
First it was cigarettes and their warnings about survival
From no less a person than the surgeon general.
Then bottles of beer with brief messages polite
About shortened life, or complications with eyesight.
All are important, but only the thin end of the wedge:
For now there’s no comforting seat, we’re all on edge -
About MSG, and food genetically-modified,
Colorants and flavorings - all E-number certified,
Bread which now has no salt, and no nut in,
No sugar, no starch, and also no glutin,
Tasteless hamburgers that state on the package
This burger contains no meat, need not be kept in fridge.
No animals were killed in making this sausage -
(And none which died naturally ether, if I’m any judge).
Colas which increase risk of ADS, so students can’t think;
Caffeine-free coffee, and an alcohol-free vodka drink.
My GPS tells me driving over 55 mph can shorten my life:
So can a swim in Lake Erie, observes my wife.
I am fully warned, and fully safe, and all in accord,
But life is zestless and I am fully bored.

Sunny beautiful day
Perfect for the tiny white cloud’s stroll
Out it went the vast skies soaring
Gentle breezes indifferently surfing
Tellurians from burning beams shielding
Like a mother her child protecting
Down on rostrums foxes standing
Cunningly their speeches delivering
Their most vicious words speaking
Deadly venomous thoughts spreading
The world indiscriminately rumpling
Wrecks and shambles behind leaving
Innocence, equity, forever routing
Wretched zestless zombies listening
Wage tethered minds in decadence indulging
Black in anger the white cloud’s face turning
Wrath in deluge on earthlings pouring
At cleansing souls candidly aiming
More to the piteous misery adding.
More modern slaves thus generating.
