Kali's Long Game
The dark age, Kali Yuga of Hindu lore,
Is not a generation or two
Or even a millennia or so
By Western measure
It is part four of an epic cycle, an Age,
Lasting almost 430 thousand years
And it is the age we’re in
Each moment, each day, year, generation
Being but another step
Into darkness and dissolution
And this is the world that fills our knowing
Literally the whole history of humanity
If that's where we started
So when we hear Grandpa complain
How it’s not like it was
How kids these days…
It’s not like it’s going to improve anytime soon
This is the way of the world
The way of the cosmic cycles
That no matter how much we try
How much we hope and pray
It’s going to keep degenerating
Until all is flat
And all our dark karma
Is brunt to a crisp
Till no seeds remain for the next
Golden Age to begin.
In the big picture where are we?
About five thousand years in.

Here in the Kali Yuga (Dark Age)
We are no longer sustained by the high
And mighty order of Tradition
Instead waves of chaos
Swell on the tide of freedom
What was high is brought low
And what was low is held high
If only for an instant
As eventually all men
Rise and fall to their natural level.
Here in the Kali Yuga
As we wander blindly in the dark, dissolution reigns
And so as we wouldn’t expect a child
To understand why
We shouldn’t expect the newborn woke mass
To understand who they are or what they do
These are the times of dissolution after all
When the ignorant embrace their ignorance as wisdom.
To everything its season
- this being the season of destruction and want -
To everyone their time
- this being the time to retreat and preserve -
Till when the tide turns and flood abates
And the scorched and scoured earth regrows.
Then even the children of the flood
May see the need to know
And perhaps their children will inherit
A capacity and ability evolution
Chose a generation to skip.
Until then we wait in silence
In caves and archipelagos
And gather the inner forces
We’ll need to face the dawn.

DAYS OF KALI YUGA
These are the days of kali Yuga
These are trying times
Times of struggle
Sparkles in their eyes
Have they come to know
That these are the days….
Kali Yuga
Have they come to know
Have they come to see..
As if they have lived
Yes they have come
Lost in translation
Awaiting hope as if it were faith
Awaiting faith as if it were hope…
Sure these are the days of kali Yuga
These are trying times
Times of tribulation...
Yeah sparkles in their eyes
Have they come to know
That these are the days of kali Yuga
Have they come to know, have they come to see
As if they have lived…
Lost in translation
Awaiting hope as if it were faith
Faith as if it were hope….

Bob Marley will remain proud
In the peace that has survived
Despite years of being a target
In a world whose power is tilted
To a few who claim to own all
The most brilliant of military interventions
In a country deemed unable to think for self
Yet it took the military to make Africa proud
The most peaceful transition of power ever
From one generation to another with respect
God must be appreciated for these times
When the superpower(s) is busy with self
Struggling to fight the obvious from being
Same discord they sowed in many Nations
Chaos that comes with negative intrusion
While they hunt for anti-Christ the third without
Adhering to the scripts of Nostradamus himself
Yet the anti-Christ has sown his seed within
Leaving time to take its course as is natural
Karma pays a Nation as it does an individual
Perhaps the golden Yuga has come to be
While the Karli lives out its toughest times
The great light has broken into the darkness
From the very distant far end of the tunnel
In time the light is bound to spread to gold

There was a time when tradesmen,
Like plumbers or mechanics, were all fulltime people.
But nowadays a tradesman has to do multiple tasks,
Mainly because their number is dwindling.
When they are not available,
Householders have to do the job themselves.
It stands to reason.
Similarly, occupations like thieving, robbery, villainy, etc.,
Used to be carried on on a fulltime-basis.
You could tell such characters apart
By their behavior, dress code and looks.
Fagin, Phoolan Devi, and Veerappan are eloquent examples.
Even a street dog could easily single them out
And start barking loudly.
But nowadays, in these postmodern times,
Or Kali Yuga (if you like),
Such marks of distinction seem to be lost.
Obviously, such ‘trades’ nowadays have gone part-time.
But the question is: Why so many part-time people
(seeing that their number is ever increasing),
And when, evidently, there is so much scope?
Why don't people go fulltime?
Could anyone explain why or why not?

A dignified statesman,
A deified ‘Godman,’
A glorified star (of films or sports)
All tumble—
After a Starr report
Or an HIV test
Or a dope test.
Or maybe a Watergate
Or a Coalgate.
Media reports or media hype?
Whistle blowers
On whistle blowers—ad infinitum.
God and my God are antithetical?
Is rape the norm—
Where Rama and Sita are worshipped?
Whatever your belief,
Call it Postmodern Era
Or Kali Yuga
Or what you will,
Will entropy be the norm?
