The difference between
a social butterfly
and a wallflower ~
I'm busy yakking now
Gimme an hour or so ...

Talking to a stranger today,
We got yakking at the mall,
Waiting for our wives I must say,
The two of us killing time is all.
Now from Texas visiting here
As a conversation we struck,
Till my first thought was I best stay clear
And certain topics I should duck.
I mean as certain states go
Ain't Texas 'bout as red as red can be?
And me well, an old Democrat you know,
Trump and guns I best leave you'll agree.
But I welcomed him to my home town,
About as neutral as Mister Spock
And the two of us worked around,
Engaging solely in small talk.
And very pleasant I must say,
Two guys waiting for their wives,
Till I wished him a good day
And we went on with our lives.
And you know it reminded me again,
Folk are just folk and mostly good souls
And maybe goddamn Fox and CNN,
It's time I turned off the real assholes.

Euphoric rays disperse from my house these days.
Cuddling and being cuddled while
Staying in the clamorous company of
Three generations in this vacation is simply ecstatic.
Adoring the rarity of my aged mother's company,
Spoiling my daughters with love, running around with their little daughters,
Yakking and laughing, keeping all elements alive, is my lifetime's achievement!

There it glows illuminating night,
Harkening to frightening sounds,
Enlightening her crevices,
Molding images of real fright;
Yakking all witches delight...
Suspending bats from trees,
Topping their heads with fleas:
Ironic play to increase their pranks!
Contained the mystical moon waits,
Arming herself with blinding gleams,
Launching them to break up their feats
Louder than the wolves wild groans!
Above winds anticipate a storm,
No star likes rainy clouds over them;
Enamored are the soft eyes of dreamers...
Totally lured by those celestial tones!

Not End Up Being
They say that she is such a pretty princess
And in my business I am poor and penniless
Maybe what I should do is to stop yakking
Up and down river soon start kayaking.
Will begin taking pictures of birds and bees
Some swimming in water or in tall trees (Egrets)
Others bearing eggs are building a new nest
Others sit in shade getting some much needed rest.
Often it has been known to be a big battle
When up and down river I do try to paddle
And even though thousand times have tried
I always end up going against opposing tide.
This is safest and most perfect thing for me
Now I won't be washed completely out to sea
While I am utterly paddling with persistence
And always will be running into much resistance.
What I did was decide to take my neighbor along
Just in case if anything were to ever go wrong
So that me with poor shape and physical health
Will never be alone ending up all by myself.

R olling down the freeway, for hours and hours on end
O n our much anticipated family vacation,
A ll us kids were joking, yakking, singing songs and snacking,
D azzled by scenic routes and filled with youthful elation.
T old by Dad to quiet down, we simply couldn’t do it.
R eally, what did he expect eight rowdy kids to do?
I nside that station wagon we were squeezed in like sardines.
P aradise at last arrived: to the restrooms we all flew!

A most ordinary, a tad-bit hazy day,
Fishing from the pier, a black cat came my way.
A mere kitten she was, "was she wearing a hat?"
a man's blue top hat? a black, blue-eyed girl cat?
She sauntered on down and I could tell, this is odd.
I called out, "Here, kitty!" as I reeled in my rod.
I offered her a fish I was gonna throw back
"I don't eat fish!" she scowled, giving my catch a whack.
"Just, who you calling, Kitty?" she sneered in exhale,
"Watch this!" she attacked me, put her hat on the rail.
She took off in a huff, forgetting her prize
trotting into the sand as I blinked my eyes.
I went back to fishing but I watched that chapeau.
It changed colors three times, taking on a red glow
and floated on the ocean waves out of eye's reach
as I heard my wife calling from down the beach.
I gathered my gear, got up, somewhat less canned.
My wife claimed the red hat as it reached the land
jawing on about some ladies society,
or was she yakking about sobriety?

Setting: outdoor pub in Prague.
On the table: brews!
Reason: hungry, tired and
So many beers to choose.
At the table next to us,
Americans on tour,
Drinking beer in every town,
As much as pubs could pour.
We had forty years on them.
Still, we started yakking,
Trading stories, facts and jokes;
Subjects weren't lacking.
That's what's great about a pub -
Different people blend
And before you know it,
Every stranger seems a friend.
Several lagers later,
We got up and said goodbye.
Once we would have kept their pace;
Now we'd dare not try.
Yet we spent a lovely night
Bonding over beers.
Amazing how some yeast and hops
Can override the years!
