Road Trip

R olling down the freeway, for hours and hours on end O n our much anticipated family vacation, A ll us kids were joking, yakking, singing songs and snacking, D azzled by scenic routes and filled with youthful elation. T old by Dad to quiet down, we simply couldn’t do it. R eally, what did he expect eight rowdy kids to do? I nside that station wagon we were squeezed in like sardines. P aradise at last arrived: to the restrooms we all flew!

Your one of eight? I'm the youngest of 7. What a wonderful memory Andrea. Dad just would never stop, would he. That's the way it seemed anyway. :)

Awesome :) Sounds like your road trips were similar to mine! (Eight kids! Wow! We were only three crammed into the backseat and that seemed like a tight squeeze!) Thanks for your comment on my limerick. I've been MIA around here lately because my brother and his wife are in town and I've been spending a lot of time with them. I also started a new job, so I've been working some overtime. I hope to catch up on everyone's poems very soon!

The beauty of a Winnebago, our own rest stop on wheels In 1983, took a trip with wife and three kids from Toronto... across the northern states... to San Francisco to San Diego and back along the Southern most states... back up through Tennessee, Kentucky and up the Ohio corridor back home crossing at Buffalo. Was ready to STRANGLE each and every kid but my sweet wife Linda at the time intervened! LOL

Sardines is right! Expecting that many to stay quiet, nearly impossible. My parents took only 5 of us kids and left 2 older ones at home....lucky them, LOL

Oh yeah. BTW. My step-father bought a small mobile home, a half-pint Winnebago if you will. I remember the trips that we took in it. One was cross country. Not an easy task back in the 70's. There wasn't a gas station every 5-10 miles but at least there was a bathroom on board. Also let me recommend "Urgent Need" if you haven't already read it.
