Alexander buffalo can’t dance even for grass.
His imbecilic jitterbug keeps leaving many nimble organists perplexed
Quickstepping really scares the unprepared viewer
While Xander yells, ‘Zumba!’

The River

I've made to many wishes
I've screamed curses and prayers out into the wind
Nothing left but whispers in the palms of my hands now
Fuzzy remnants of memories fall apart and come together in my mind
A mosaic of life
 your life
Moments we were together
A day with you at the river
That hag stone you found stays with me till this day..
I clasp my fingers around it tightly
As if it could take me back to you
I smell the water
 I hear your laughter
Marshmallows and sand
little hands shaking with frustration as you attempt to skip stones across the waters surface
The slight stutter that happened only when you said my name
Mom, mom mom mom
Look , the birds you say as you tug on the hem of my shirt
You ran as if to meet them
 chasing the horizon
I always knew you would fly
Never imagining that one day you'd give up your wings
I search for you at the rivers edge
And listen for your name in the current
The river speaks
your fluvial soul, little ripples running towards the shore
I sit so we can be together once more
                       For My Son

Xander does not dress like other men
We knew that when we saw the kitty cat on his shirt
and the perky pastel pink top hat with the pink ribbon on his head

he likes his suspenders, grandma said.
Was this an apology, an explanation or a warning?
Xander always matches his suspenders to his hats whispered a cousin.

We had no idea what to expect from this kindergarten teacher.
He wore shirts with Snoopy, Mickey and Minnie, and Donald Duck
With matching theme suspenders and hats

Xander had a keen sense of humor, and he made us laugh
He brought playdough and glitter and paints and we loved him
He is a keeper! We told Grandma, and so she did.

For Xander

If today is all there is
And all there ever will be
Let me say this
In the glorious nowness of the day

You my child lay sleeping
Unaware that I crept in your room
And placed a kiss on your head

Your familiar smell lingers
Like the day you were born

I am more keenly aware
Of the rising joy in my heart
And the excitement of this moment
That has been missing until now

Let me never put off feelings such as these
For expression on some future date and time

For the future is always now
And only exists in the minds
Of those who cannot rightly love

But since I rightly love you
And your impish laugh
And your little boy grin
And your curious mind

Let me tell you now
That in this moment
Staring at you as you sleep

Time has stood still
And I can with quiet surety tell you
I love you
Deeply and forever

And for a moment I know
That the piece of love you have given me
Will last and carry with me
Into the unknown
And mingle with my stardust heart
An endless dance in to eternity

And that my child
Is heaven
