The sightless amass daily at dawn; a pilgrimage
Arms outstretched clutching away; the sightless.
A winding trunk grazing away to appease the pangs of hunger; the calloused skin of a leg, a cauliflower shaped ear, a skinny tail swaying restlessly
We know not what this is they echo in chorus; mouths voicelessly ajar at the gigantism
Bellows emit endlessly; stomping, churning,
A woolly mammoth perhaps…..Ice age
Clouds of perplexity choking the cerebrum….. the sightless concur….it must be a powerful apparition, a deity
Could it be that mythical monster; Loch Ness it ain’t, NHS perhaps
A Druid dance up the hillside may help us nail the answer
Ah…..we see it now….the answer flying in the wind…
Not as you like it, but “ASDA”…a medieval bazaar!

Conspiracy Theories
Don’t be naïve do you really believe
That man could walk upon the Moon.
Just theatrical Cold War propaganda,
Do I look like your common buffoon?
Satellite pictures cheap shot trickery,
The Earth that we know is all flat.
Look at the maps both ancient and new
Spherical, we’d fall off and that’s that.
Quantum mechanics, Big Bang theory,
For Heaven’s sake do me a favour.
Thirteen point eight Billion years ago,
Milky Way and yummy Galaxy flavour.
Religion is the answer deity divine,
Finding ways to control populous mass.
Unquestioned devotion for final reward,
Heavens gate and a special gilt pass.
Giant creatures roaming the plains,
Millions of years before ascent of man.
Simply pictures made up in glossy books,
Entertaining Jurassic Park movie fan.
Climate change lies great Millennium scam,
Line the pocket of Mister green politics.
Ministers and Presidents will never agree,
Which of them is guilty of crass dirty tricks.
Dodo, Quagga and Flightless Great Auk,
Giant Woolly Mammoth and Sabre Tooth.
They aren’t extinct for they didn’t exist,
Conspiracy theories messing with the truth.

Sabre Tooth
You and I were there upon the ice,
the white crystal paradise,
We fought the Sabre Tooth Tiger Cat,
We fought with fear like cornered Rats,
and some of us survived.
We hunted Woolly Mammoth under the Moon,
did overwhelm and eat it soon,
though some died doing that,
stomped spiked and lifeless flat,
cos death did call the tune.
We learned to plot and persevere,
there was no time for acting *****,
where death walked in a Cat,
no time for getting fat,
ole Sabre loved us dear....

BIG IDEAS
UNG!!!! Fire was the big idea
Flaming Woolly Mammoth on a hot stick
OHH!! The wheel was the big idea
Woolly Mammoth are heavy
Caves were the big idea
Condos of cohabitation.
Cave Drawings were the big idea
Decorative stories
Road Trips were the big idea
Keep moving with the food
Evolution was the big idea
Creatively adapt to change
Music was the big idea
Drums and whistles and chants
Dance was the big idea
Moving in the fire’s glow
Words were the big idea
The poetry of survival
Texting was the big idea
Messages scratched on a wall
Moving out was the big idea
UNG!!! Take fire with you

The Woolly Mammoth finally groaned his last
As the North Pole’s shift encased him in ice
The first to succumb to an Arctic blast
And now we humans challenge winter’s price
Beneath the snowy pasture, stems break through
Crocuses, daffodils, tulips emerge
They’re certain that spring will arrive on queue
Warm weather awaits; we are on the verge
The coming months will dapple the landscape
Kisses of lavender, yellow and red
Will find you quite soon; there is no escape
Bid farewell to those frozen days you dread
Keep focused on the magic of springtime
When sweaters are shed and the blooms surround
The chirps of spring birds have begun to chime
The glory of nature will soon abound
