sublime hood-winker
such a master of the con
the press tags along
faked rebellion builds up strength
to allay a real one

Jolly Ollie, the tiddledy winks king
Jolly Ollie really mastered that thing
He's amazing to human dragon and elf
He even impressed the Pope
Who's a pretty good winker himself.

Grandpa was a jolly old winker.
And I was a nine year old stinker.
He was a fish getter
But I did him one better...
I caught Grandpa... hook, line, and sinker!

Why wont some see
Concealment in souls?
The mask has holes
from which they see
they speak, they lie
You don't ask why, you nod and smile
Not seeing the scandalous guile
The charade is somewhat
tragic and maddening
A facade is painted on
The dialogue is scripted so,
you fall into the scene
Its painted so two-dimensional,
the lack of depth obscene
A fairy tale palatable to those
Who rather think life as prose
Conception of Deception
Hook-line-sinker
Game grinning winker...this fawn eats handfed
Want of wooing makes the fooling
too easy a game to play
She leaves the script open for Mad-lib
He fills the spaces between
Stars in the roll of this scene
Her fantasy is self-manifesting
He just fills in his name

It is in the heart of Man to prey.
Weak seeking weaker
to make themselves strong.
Rag dolls
simper behind
a clever line
a silver tongue
a Charmer’s charm.
It’s all been done and
yet we fall.
Hook.
Line.
Sinker.
Doe-eyed,
we embrace the bright-eyed-winker.
Searching for self in a snake’s charm.
Ignore the Whisper
we take his arm
and pray
Lord, do not let me be deceived.
Do not lead me astray.
Show me your will.
All the while
we are beguiled.
Weaker still.
