Attitude Is Everything

Request for change is often met,
with some platitude.
It’s easier to change environment,
than an attitude.
You’ll seldom get all you want,
because you insisted.
Most gripes fall on deafened ears,
and are resisted.
If you don’t like your situation,
protest or strike.
When that don’t grease your squeak,
take a hike.

My Mommy cuddles me,
kisses me, hugs me, always amazes me.
washes my clothed for me,
tickles my toes for me,
giggles and talks with me,
says "sweet dreams" to me,
sings sweet songs to me,
Iam glad she belongs to me.

We once were discerning,
we once had opinions.
But then we stopped learning,
and turned into minions.
One day, something happened.
We can’t tell you when.
One day we got crapped on,
and ceased to be men.
There once was a telly
whose end-word was “vision”,
Vidal and Minelli.
Who took the decision?
No, let’s not put Gore on.
Don’t fear their begrudgement.
They’re all total morons:
they don’t have no judgment.
Let’s just give them Fonzie
in suicide combat,
and re-run Beyoncé
in Dances With Wombats.
And once, public service
meant serving the voters:
now they get nervous
when pleasing promoters.
I’m sure I remember
a time before Mammon,
when decency’s embers
did not come with jam on.
Then one day it altered,
I can’t tell you how,
but honesty faltered –
and look at us now.
In 1925 the birth of the King of the Underwood came forth
and some 21 years later, he would grace us with his wisdom
as well as his politics, quotes, manuscripts, short stories and then deliver to us Ben Hur
and Lincoln. His name was Gore Vidal and today he still "is".
I picture him typing on his Underwood in his various villas (of which he had many)
writing his own manuscripts chiefly because he despised, like most writers, interruptions
unless it were as he said, " to have sex or a television appearance, both of which he lauded.
Today Vidal leaves us with, " We are permanently the United States of Amnesia. We learn nothing because we remember nothing."

And chocolate filled with bubbles.
Now Joseph’s coat of many colours
Would have stayed and never faded,
If he had washed at 40
And used fairy radiated.

He’s 6.6 up 4.2 we’ll all be millionaires.
