How I venerate you, O Lord
In your lens, lenity and levity loom
as a benign breeze
Stars doth glitter in a prolific night sky
Their radiance is a celestial litter

timely vespers

you were with her at lourdes
whilst the sun was shining
two worlds became one
light flickers
from the water edge
bread and wine are your sole ambition
trust in vespers
a catalogue of goodliness

After your butterfly alighted my dreams,
I never forgot your kiss,
You became the object of my vespers,
The refuge for my injured toiling chest.
I await your spectacle, your curtain call.
Your fragile teasing dance.
Like Groundhog Day, I predict your fluttering
Wings, the wavy flurry of your bowstrings,
Again and again.
What wonder comes next?
 Are you counting

Premium MemberVespers At Dream Cafe

It was approaching sunset
displayed boldly across red sky west
as I entered Dream Café,

Time for candle lit vespers and incense
which I feared would be more personal nightmare
than political dream.

I came to this Café,
for the first time,
because our Democratic Town Committee
was nominating candidates for Mayor
and City Council
and School Board
right after silent and sung vespers
here inside a DreamCafe

"i like muslims",

whispered in newfangled vestry

                       for Viv might anger.

(She's said they'll blow us up in Leominster.*)

They won't, though, for Leominster is small,

bigger than London Bridge

and they're not strangers,

for all love us here,

Siberian Vespers

A blinding wind rescinds my vision of the tundra’s rich ruins
White-dark obstructing the dark-white frigid dunes
Gloves numbly clutching shovel dumbly
Lunging for ore or foreign money
Turnipbottom dirtpale the truest shade
In Siberian vespers all colors fade
But each double parka’d sweatdrop bleeds a Bombay summer
Tickling, trickling south like my fantasy sojourn
Each snowflake calls to mind a pachyderm,

Vespers

This returning march seems parallel
to that God's choosing am impelled
to wile away all losing
not some instanced recognize!

The gifts I sought excelled
are fully given not excise,
my heart sure ridden with concise
delivers that injustice realize!

Now nothing new can compromise
my faith so driven with demise,
my soul forgiven knows its size,
no more the loft impersonating lies!

Return to pathways hidden,

A Climax of Vespers

The dark fantasies
of forbidden,
lusts and silhouettes
of scarlet passions.

The lovers,
they mingle
like serpents asunder,
coiling about,
becoming entwined
as chaos
to the enthralls
of jealousy.

Jealousy. . .
with no means
of explanation.
The lovers' emotions
again embrace. . .
feelings
of anger,
of hatred,
arise,
fueling their desires.

Their feelings of loss
and emptiness
flow,
as dismal squalls
of nothingness
cry out
like a climax of vespers.
