Valkyries Poems

Anchor of Stone

Cradle the weight between my shoulders.
Heavy thoughts anchor down the nomadic mind.
Tired and weary from the constant battle.
Chewing on words from a forgotten rhyme.
On my knees in a steady rain.
Left with shards of a vision torn.
Walking over cobblestone broken and gray.
The streetlights hang their heads to mourn.
Valkyries have long abandoned this field.
There are no angels to take me home.
Crawling ahead to finish this race.
Carve my name into the stone.

I
Standing in a glass cube
As rain falls all around
The fate of the world
Is up for sale

Valkyries burst like bombs
As the forces of evil push us down
Lightning lances across the sky
And we're begging for a miracle

The great Arc sails the skies
A triumph to watch sails unfurl
Serenaded by the pegasus
Are we finally saved

As volcanoes erupt and gods awake
The glass cube begins to shatter
Wherein stands the Proprietor of Evil
For it is Hades Himself

II
Clouds part like curtain call
Fire shoots across the heavens
We're just witnesses to Armageddon
As civilization falls apart

As helpless as cockroaches
Cowering in the shadow of a shoe
Were the old feuds really worth it
As gods render earth a battleground

Sails ripped and on fire
The arc is sinking in a blaze of glory
But victory is surely at hand
As Alexander holds blade up high

Once again ensnared in a glass cube
As tears rain from the skies
Comes the death of the empire of Hades
And his fate is up for sale

Premium MemberWanderlust Winds

Souls borne on wanderlust winds
Never their wandering fate rescind.
They wander like winds throughout their lives
Enslaved to adventure for which they strive.
Living life on its razor-thin edge
At the tip of fate’s precarious wedge,
They ride like Valkyries into war,
Not knowing what life is really for.
Some are heroes, and some are rogues
Who will constantly wring from life its most.
But, in the end, they are lusty slaves
To their itchy feet’s whims
And life’s wondrous ways.

Premium MemberThe Valkyrie Bill

The woman who stands before you,
She sheds her armor,
To shall her honesty,
The truthfulness of her heart.
Her pure of heart.
She takes charge.
She never backs down.
She let's them see exactly who she is.
She leaves it all out there,
On the ground for all to see.
She's a hero.
She's a savior.
Yet, she only sees herself,
As a simple woman who,
Supports her sisters in,
The dark days ahead as we all,
Try and fight for what is only ours.
She is a mother.
She is a sister.
She is a wife.
Above all sheis a warrior.
In my visions I see her as a Valkyrie.
Oden is by herself.
He believes in us.
He fights for us.
I hear the war cry.
I visualize the shield maidens,
Hearing their war chant as I see,
Them grab their armor,
Shields and their swords,
Getting ready for war.
The Valkyries stand before us.
No words are necessary,
As she holds the elixir of war,
The bottle of elixir in her hands,
The war paint.
The war chant continues.
They started this and,
We will finish it.
I visualize all this as I,
Finish writing the bill.
I bill I will introduce to Congress,
Titled "The Valkyrie Bill."

No More

no more ringing
in my ears always
being Quasimodo
screaming about
the bells

i set my house
phone ring tone
to play a MIDI
Wagner Ride
of the Valkyries

and my cellphone
wake up alarm tone
is Bach's cello
bourree which
peacefully draws

me from my sleep
but the machines
at work later take
over so yelling
becomes

the norm for
speaking so
now i adorn
headphones
after work

to muffle
the rapid
discharge
of shots
at the shooting

range

Premium MemberDark and Twisted Fantasy

In my dark and twisted fantasy
Walk this path and sing with me
Through uncanny valleys
Dodging the volleys of Valkyries
Each word creates a universe
Tied to a black heart curse
You think you're frightened
And I can see your senses heightened
But this is my world
At your fingertips unfurled
This flat dimension I conceptualize
Maybe it can make you realize
That everything I perceive
Is what I could never conceive
Watch flowers blossom in the sky
A radiance so high
I can feel it in my soul
But for this brief happiness is a toll
And for every one smile I'll pay the price
Though you'd never think twice
And though my right eye is slanted
I can see straight to have the truth implanted
This dark and twisting road
Is filled with crude code
And to show you I risked it all
Knowing I've got to fall
Because I'm a broken man
Who never had a plan
I just wanted to know I was worth your time
Which might be my greatest crime
Because I've struggled with insanity
At the height of your vanity
Everything is crumbling
And I can hear the ground rumbling
All I wanted was for you to sing with me
My dark and twisted fantasy

Shoelace

That first text
was blessed by
the all father Odin himself

Two of his sons
bound Together
by a green shoelace
in the park of my heart

Thor's lightning bolts
sparked Between the
Sheets of my bed

I was in utter bliss
feasting in Valhalla
with the Valkyries dancing around us

But my 15 minutes of fame was up
he only leaving behind
his green shoelace

Like mistletoe defeated Boulder
I was strung up by
your green shoelace

But a few weeks has passed
I found yourself in my bed again
and Thor's Sparks flew once more

So I fell in love
but I fell so hard
I found myself in Hel's hall

Ragnarok was upon me
Fenrir was fighting Odin
Jormugndr was eating Thor

I had to stop it
I had to be reborn out of Yggdrasil
And so I was murdered
by your
green shoelace

The Littlest Yes Movement

Dear Daniel Bryan
I have a story to tell
Of your littlest fan
And your “Yes!” he does yell.

Even in sleep
Surprise you he would
For awake he does leap
Your theme understood.

As soon as he hears
“Flight of the Valkyries”
 He perks up his ears
And is up off his knees.

Arms in the air
Fingers pointed high
Stepping to the ring with care
Even in mid cry.

Yes Movement I see
Every Monday Night Raw
Such a delight to me
He fills me with awe.

The Littlest Yes Movement is here
His age do you wonder?
He has just turned a year
Your youngest fan member.

End of Days

Did you hear the thunder overhead?
Arise, arise ghosts of the dead
See the lightning flash in the black sky
Watch the rain fall before our eyes
Feel the earth as it begins to shake
Now rising Odin finally awakes
Look and you'll see the Valkyries
An ancient thousand year old prophesy
Has come to the light and reigns true
Spared only will be the chosen few
I look to the future without any fear
For I know that Ragnarok is here

Premium MemberBlack Carriage

Death's dark angel
Black carriage drives
Collecting lives
Final rewards

The carriage has
Matching horses
Pulling courses
All of them black

Death follows you
All of your life
Toil and strife
Can't escape Him

When it's their time
They all object
There's no respect
Everyone dies

Thanatos rides
The Banshees cry
Valkyries fly
None of them care

Premium MemberOdin's Army

I fell in battle, sword in hand,
Invading someone else’s land.
Then I saw her, and she reached down,
To escort me from the battleground.
I’d let her take me anywhere,
With her winged helmet and braided hair.

She had me stand ‘neath Odin’s throne,
Where each warrior must stand alone.
One-eyed Odin judged me to be
Worthy to serve in his last army….
Daily killed and resurrected--
(Not quite the afterlife expected!)

Samurais taught me to sword-fight.
I learned spear and shield from a Hoplite.
Vikings taught me the battle axe,
And the Persians taught me sneak attacks.
We die each day and then come back,
Always practicing for Ragnorak.

She brings me mead, my Valkyrie,
And sometimes at night she favors me.
Since she’s nearby, it’s just as well--
This isn’t Heaven, but not quite Hell.
We’ll fight and sing to the war drums,
Waiting the day that Ragnorak comes.

(Chorus)
Our days are spent in miseries,
But at night we have the Valkyries.
Riposte and lunge, thrust and parry;
That’s all we do in Odin’s army.

Premium MemberTill Ragnorak Comes

From Valhalla’s fortress of spears and shields,
Valkyrie riders make their daily runs…
Crossing Bifrost to Midgard’s battlefields,
Harvesting warriors till Ragnorak comes.

Flying from Valhalla on their war horses,
Thundering hooves beat like old battle drums,
Odin’s blond daughters watching the forces--
Harvesting warriors till Ragnorak comes.

Legionnaires, Pikemen, Hussars and Spartans;
Storm Troopers, Crusaders and Saracens;
Musketeers, Vikings, and Gladiators;
Watusi, Cossacks, and Conquistadors.
As long as men hear the sounds of war drums,
They’ll harvest the best till Ragnorak comes.

Valkyries search for those to stand vanguard,
Recruiting Odin’s Einherjar armies.
Warriors pass Valgrind to live in Asgard--
Honored to be served by the Valkyries.

Hoplites, Commandoes, and Mujahideens;
Samurais, Yeomen, and US Marines;
Guerrilas, Dragoons, and Panzer Tankers;
Grenadiers, Mamelukes, and Bezerkers.
As long as men hear the sounds of war drums,
Valkyries harvest till Ragnorak comes.

Premium MemberShield Mate

Prostrate upon a crooked bier of need
you writhe combustible.
I will not lie with you and burn.
I am not kindling to be gathered and so used.

Bring the strength of iron to your mast
stride beside me do not lean.
A shadow falls and by it
we will time our rise,
speak to me of Valkyries.

Words you bring,
and words but fill an empty air,
when deeds of valor show on scar-crossed skin
what need have I for frail
and harmless things?

Build me a ship stout, lapped board
a dragon-headed fright,
leave off the bruised and battered colors
of violet eve’s and blackened offerings.

Across the bitter seas of salt
a bloody tide abides, all men must end
but few stride, shield mate at their back.

Touch Odin’s hem and to Valhalla ride
I am insane it is true, but in truth
what does sanity breed
but insane cries?

The Battle Maidens

A guttural yell, his glare on me:
“Next you I shall fell, the heathen ye!”
Abroad-sword up-held, he made his charge:
From gored-haze unmeld, o’er corpses barged.
Lurid darkness seeped, into our minds:
In frenzy we leaped, our blades malign.
Iron imploded, and blood galore:
Forsooth Odin sang, of savage chore.
Post berserk fray by, mutual expiry:
Awesome in the sky, lo! Valkyries!
They galloped and soared, spying the dead:
The brave they hallowed, so to us said:
“You two brutes have fought, zealous causes:
‘fore Ragnarok brought, join our forces!”

Premium MemberVirgos and Valkyries

In years gone past, as thunder rode a stark and blackened sky
in Thor’s abode lived Valkyrie’s, women such as I.

Virtuous, valiant, shield maidens, brought victors on high
Virgo’s, surely, sisters all, who ordered those who died.

Judges true of pure intent whose honor none belied
for all of life seeks order, if chaos would be denied.

An independent nature every Virgo’s does maintain
with thoughts of selfless causes and the shunning of acclaim.

With fire and fidelity your Virgo’s never tame
but, you can trust a Virgo’s, a Valkyrie all the same…
