LOVE IN THE AIR

Love is a beautiful thing
A thing of thy soul
the song we all sings
But only few
Have the courage
To dance to thy beat
The rhythm of the heart
Without retreating even amidst the heat.

No hate no love
Just like no wound, no healing
Love in the air
So undisguised
For it's Valentine's day
Love the reason for the season
Some give it unconditionally
Without seizing or leaving
Many fake it, just to partake in it.

In my country
Nigeria to be precise
Babe will block babe
Just to post main babe
People date for sex and things
Not love, just for fun and funds
Our country na cruise
Many take advantage
Few do it from them heart
If you broke
Them go dribble your heart play am like ball.

Not for You

a heart-shaped world wrapped in ribbons and lace
but she sits alone in the quiet space
her hands rest empty, no cards, no sweets
just the echo of laughter in distant streets

red and pink paper drifts to the floor
cut-out hearts taped to the classroom door
she watches them trade their love in a line
her name never called—not even one time

her fingers trace the edge of her desk
a whisper of hope still clings to her chest
maybe they forgot, maybe one's late
maybe love comes if you just sit and wait

but the bell rings sharp, the day is done
they gather their gifts, arms heavy with fun
she walks home slow, the sky bruised blue
the wind carries whispers—not for you

she curls beneath blankets, blinking fast
but tears slip down like shadows cast
and though she tells herself it’s okay
her heart still aches for valentines day

Sexuality and sensuality gone
From temptations of flesh withdrawn
We lay cuddled like innocent children.
Within walls of fidelity, hidden
Free from the aches of ages
Seek only serenity as sages.
Each minute turns into an era of joyfulness.
Heavens shine in divine awfulness.

The Moon's Secret Diary

THE MOON’S SECRET DIARY

I am intrigued by them,
the ones who call me the moon.
Who are they?
the inhabitants of my imaginative world?
or am I a part of theirs?
some eccentric children of the cosmos?

I watch the earth all the time,
she, the calm creature that sustains
the whimsical objects,
they, who are searching for the unsearchable.
they, who have never existed in harmony.

I find them amusing,
the ones who are unaware of their insignificance.
they, who do nothing but run behind the truth,
little do they know that they are an unwoven lie.

I remember what I said, are they
some eccentric children of the cosmos?
I asked the universe to be my valentine,
and we met in a blackhole for a tryst.
Are they your children? I asked
“No, they are my siblings.” she confessed.

Premium MemberHappy Valentine's Day

Twas the day of Valentines
and all through the house
cut out red hearts hung on twine
and the sweet unmistakable aroma of baking.

All the family hugged, even the dog and the cat.

The children huddled around the dining room table
waiting for heart shaped frosted sugar cookies
as mamma told them to scat.

Now Constance, now Victor, now Lasaad, now Anne-Lise
Now dash away! Dash away! Dash away all!"

The heart shaped frosted sugar cookies are for dessert.

Happy Valentine to all of Soup Poets.

May you always have enough love in your heart for everyone
may you always keep your heart open to it, regardless of pain
may you never take one single day for granted, nor a kiss
may you always know how much you are loved, by me...

May your Valentine be much more than romantic love, for love
is a package given to you from God, it comes in many forms
Love is a flower that blooms in every heart, so my children
know that you are the constant bloom of flowers in mine

HAPPY VALENTINES MY LOVES !!!

Premium MemberA Valentine To My Sisters In Christ

Behold, thou art fair my loves,
Behold thou art fair.
Songbirds like the morning doves
Angelic in your prayer
Your children call you blessed.
They praise you in the gates.
Strength and honor are your clothing.
As a needy world awaits.
Thou hast ravished my heart my sisters,
like tender grapes on the vine.
How fair is thy love my sisters.
How much better thy love than wine.
Oh hear, all my sweet sisters,
women of the Lord.
Please accept this Valentine with all the love I can afford.

Valentine’s Day

Pink lacy cards,
heart-shaped boxes
of sweet chocolates,
bouquets of roses,
candlelight dinners,
romance in the air.

A heartbreaker
If you have lost the
love of your life
and are outside
looking in at the party.
No romance today.

But love is many things.
Valentines are sons,
daughters, children,
and grandchildren,
dear friends whom we
love, and who love us.

We have our memories,
stored in picture albums,
in family stories and jokes,
and in our own hearts,
where the romance we
once had still lives.

Cupid tapped my sailor on the shoulder,
“That one…” he pointed at me.
He aimed at me, sent the sailor’s seabag too -
we shoot to the top of Everest
with all its dangers.
We tumble and climb, tumble and climb
until at last we are forever in each other’s grasp.

My sailor proposed too fast with a golden ring.
I accepted after he begged for two weeks.
Mind over matter was defeated by head over heels.

I had been shy. If we had met earlier we might have passed by
each other but the playing field was all new. There was adventure
in his soul and longing in my heart to soar to new heights.

The sailor’s seabag was heavy with his past
but he found love and loves (children and grands)
and a God that was bigger than everything.

Tulips delirious dance, twelve with big fat leaves. Tulips alive
with life not death. Roses hold beauty but tulips last.

A sailor’s ring surrounds my finger. Ebon-etched leaves, unique.
Cupid’s bow in shadowbox - a little worn and bent in our heart shape.

Written by Gail R. DeBole
on February 5, 2021

Cupid was tired of being alone.
Of being the one who found others their own
One and true love year-after-year.
He wanted his own love.
A love who was dear.

He looked in the mirror only to see
A babe in a diaper. He wanted to flee
Casting away the arrow and bow
Wanting to be able to grow.

He wanted to live as a man with a wife
With children and live his own grown-up life.
No flying around, but having clothes to wear.
He wanted his own life. It wasn’t fair.

One day Cupid found a lamp with a genie inside
And made one wish that could not be denied.
As the genie gently floated above
Cupid wished for his very own one-and-true love.

So now Cupid lives in a house.
He has three children and a loving spouse.
But once a year he still flies around
And brings people together in his own small town.

And his son, Cupid Junior, flies by his side.
Learning the family business that must never die.
Cupid wears a red suit with a heart on his sleeve.
His son wears a diaper and flies with the breeze.

The Best I Never Planned

I never thought I’d be like this
With so much on my plate
Life would give me one small chance
But I’d always show up late

I never thought I’d have a home
So happy; filled with love
A kitchen full of plenty
We're blessed from up above

I never thought I’d be content
To wake up every day
Go to work; help a soul
Then home to you; I'm on my way

I never thought I’d feel the love
The kind that children show
A goodnight kiss; a goodnight hug
You gave my heart a glow

I never thought I’d be in love
To have and hold a gentle hand
Yes, I’d say it’s true, my dear
You’re the best I never planned

Geraldine and Lampert, Frogs

Geraldine and Lampert, frogs
Rendez-vous'd at dawn, in swamp
Bathing in the warming current
They concur: We must tell stories!

To themselves: ("I'll make one up!")

Geraldine found first a bonmot:
"Last rehearsal, my dear Lampert
Scaled in volume, fortissimo!,
I achieved the height of croaking:
My tone high, my voice sonorous!
I completely aced the chorus
Of the Frog and Pauper, yessir!"

Lampert, all impressed throughout,
(though they sensed some shade of doubt)
Soon had found an anecdote:
"In the farthest parts of pond,
Past the sunken children's ships,
I once came upon cicadas,
And I tell you:
They're THIS big!"

Geraldine laughed ribbitly,
Chiefly, at that Lampert's bragging.
They were having grand a time,
In the morning mire, at dawn!

A mosquito soon flew by,
Caught by both, their tongues collided,
And they blushed and, mortified,
Sighed apologies, with smiles.

Past veneers of insincerity
It was both their clamped desire:
They wanted each to be
the other's froggy valentine.

A Prayer For Valentine's Day

Valentine's Day is a day where you care,
Traditionally you exchange valentines with relatives and friends.

Boyfriend and girlfriend send another flowers and chocolates.
Their are socials to honor St. Valentine.

Valentine's Day, a day where relatives and friends ,
Share care and friendship.

They have celebrations in honor of St. Valentine,
Performers could guest.

Writing cards to show their affections,
Sent to relatives and friends.

A day where you look back and think about friendships and romances,
A miraculous wedding could have guested.

Miracles like your children and grandchildren,
A day where we celebrate God's love and friendship.

Valentine's Day should be all year
The planet is God's favorite Valentine.

Royalty celebrates Valentine's Day.
King and Queen, prince and princess.

Thankful to God for the many blessings,
Happiness and thankfulness everywhere.

Shakespears Worls

I blink as I look into your caramel eyes
Sifting through your features trying to find flaws yet failing
Words cannot explain the way I feel when I see your face
I see my world in your eyes, never have I loved someone like I love you
This impulsive feeling I feel when I look at you
Your fair skin, too good for the sun, beautiful
Your red beautiful lips the colour of blood
Something I would give for you
Yet offspring of an enemy you are- and i should loathe you
Yet I love you my beautiful boy
Fate never on my side has given us this hurt
Will you still love me? will I still be your girl
My heart beats for you
May our love always be as good as new…
