I’m listening to a song,
that’s captured my mood.
What’s the singer saying?
If it knew, I’d sing along.
but the slurry words elude.
It’s an artistic choice, I suppose,
and I don’t require deeper meanings.

A squirrel stands defiantly in the middle of the path,
A tiny, furry-tailed, usurper - quite out of the routine.
“Hello fluffy rodent,” I baby-sing, as it watches me,
“What an odd meeting, are you hoping for a feeding?”
I try to pass but it jittery-scampers and cuts me off.
"I have a test, get out of the way, you crazy nut-thief”
I glance at my watch; l might really be late to lab.

So, I leave the path to the possibly rabid rat.
if it comes at me, on-God, I swear I’ll kick it,
launch it ballistically into the evergreen thicket.
How I long for a coffee, hot and sweet,
or a sandwich and salty chips - that would be nice -
but then I would be late for class. I sigh in defeat.
It started to drizzle. This afternoon will be miserable.

Premium MemberDawning Sun Shape

Written: May 03, 2024

                  ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I witnessed the dawn seraphic sapphire spike,
I marveled at the world's exquisiteness strike.
The colors shimmered in the first light glow,
Cleansed by nature's tears of the night flow.
The cracks and scratches of each passing day,
Rest below the morning mist, silky display.
Tattered torn edge of an aging landscape,
Blessed and healed by the kiss of dawn escape.
These scenes have opened my eyes before,
However, their insight remains in explore.
A truth, now revealed, from within my heart,
After haze, the sun's limber rays impart.
After sorting amid the dust life's sand,
An array of the exceptional grew at hand.
A solitary grain amid circular void space,
Never did I predict leaping ways in a trace.
I cast my heart aside into the ocean,
An indigo scope of a replica of devotion.
Brimming with tremendous vision,
A shimmering journey toward emotion.
I let out a sigh and gave in to its might,
The glowing streams of sacred insight.
Permeate me with an empathic fervor,
Gaze is off rays of a sempiternal usurper.
The Hostile Whorls
I
king of the hostile quasar !
stelliferous beast without origin
anechoic void-crown usurper of the throne without end
upon a tundra in the cosmic septentrional :
fantastically obscure to the naked human eye
and shrouded in the asterism of shadows !
gatekeepers of the GN-z11 realm,
amethyst-fanged beasts of the farthest space
pursuing from beyond the ultimate meridian
to battle the flame-born basilisks of Alpha Scorpii
the star-beasts battle in constellatory theatre,
a timeless outing of the yet another
anniversary cosmic implosion
        II
hostile whorls in the night-sky
spin into mass hypnotic effect
cruor of celestial bodies splatter
alizarin spasms across the death-black vista
which emanates across the heliosphere
as hallucination becomes reality becomes hallucination
   lines between
   cosmophobia  and cosmonoia
   are blurred
mystical systems of glyphic code
etched into bedrocks as star-maps
guide the madman into liminal states
between this and the great obscure other
The Cycle 5: Protected
Abusive rotations percolate
down; broken and cast away.
Warmth brightens in a moment.
Snapping heat darkens the next.
Even cooling age brings distant rage.
No escape from the Mighty God.
Hands cast out; reaching and grabbing.
Stones thrown in envious desire,
smash into hopeful façades.
Smooth faces burgeoning with life;
cast back into fiery birth.
Bright youth broken by wretched pain.
Hot, cracked, and without love.
Only shielding brother brings hope,
The Usurper; hated rival. Amassed;
gravitating influence challenging.
Absorbing spiteful stones of sterility,
a protector circling; back scarred,
power balances in the system.
Abused by their wretched God.
Obscure Personages of Life
OBSCURE LIFE CHARACTERS
Hero
Your terror is palid..
fear is your greatest gesture!
Soldier
your loneliness
is greater than death...
smaller than an enigma,
a data..!
COMMANDED
The bigger the well
from the horror,
more exposed to
subordinate...
THIEF
eternal processor
of other people's gestures..
overeacting prophylaxis
poorly provided,
usurper of
compromising crumbs,,,
NOZZLE
verbose word
among deaf...
brilliant gesticulator
among blinds...!
Moon rises surprised,
eschews its pocked face,
caught in early glare
of sun in bleaches
awaiting its call.
A starlet usurped!
Usurper
Soft bones
Towing celestial clay
Brutal, the fleshly vehicle
Screeching still
Along its dark an' ancient highway
Where infinite roads, crookedly knot
Tying bow, upon heavens bouquet
Never meant to be begot
Invisible...
Until our dying day
So, pardon me
The land and sea
An’ rapture me, their eulogy
As fading petal, a warmth to seek...
Upon ashen cliffs, of embered peak
For, heaven held in feathered seam
Formless pillows of life and dream
An’ so life, was left no other way
But for the stars, to steal our world away
For, as to the lesser
Cosmic ghosts, born in fleeting form
Our future, holds no clear shelter
Cerebral an’ shaken, a snow-globe left...
Cast, in perpetual storm
So, pardon me…
This humanity
Kiss my bright-eyed lark goodbye!
Let me sleep...
As the spring tides turn
Amongst every constillation, star
An' pinned-down butterfly...
For, every heaven held in feathered seam
Formless pillows of life and dream
An’ so life, had left no other way
But for the stars, to steal our world away
Premium MemberWired To Win
Having stretched the boundaries of hope
to encompass yesteryear's follies
and truths abandoned for fantasy,
faith forces us to walk life's tightrope
blindly, and yet, we manage to cope.
Youth is too cocky to make mistakes
navigating repeated patterns
through choices and their consequences.
Full steam ahead, both feet off the brakes,
they're wired to win, whatever it takes.
As years fall away like Autumn leaves,
actors morph into the audience
observing youth rehearse for bit parts.
Power's all a kingly mind perceives,
truth's the usurper; no one believes.
Reality waits till later years
to unmask manipulation's face,
programming in the guise of free will.
Exchanging fragile freedoms for fears
lies are spun into a veil of tears.
Indwellers
The apartment leaks their footsteps.
Ghosts avoid them
they live on in the fabric and pith,
die in the gist and substance
as fragmented recordings;
the former, the previous.
Once they were the replacement tenants
now you’re the usurper.
They won’t speak to you,
for you are not there,
however they will arrange and restore
what you thought was yours
as you dream of being.
Posthuman
What tis' the work of man
to leave a testament
to his grand plans,
the usurper of the throne
eternal is, man!
The after image
of a lost god left
a cold planet
our former mother,
Mother Earth.
We use and abuse toss aside
the husk of humanity
the aftermath of an arrogant divinity!
We live, love, destroy,
we feed, bleed
&
Breed?
...lay waste to everything we don’t understand
no faith in our father's fate to repeat.
From our destiny to our sin
Desolations of our history!
…in our post-human waste.
Premium MemberStruggled With God
Esau was firstborn, but Jacob soon followed
For all of his young life, seems Jacob deceived
Esau, the loser whenever they struggled
Jacob did not trust God, constantly struggled
Esau at his heels, now Jacob was followed
Dividing his camp up, still Jacob deceived
Forgetting God’s promises, he was deceived
But that night they wrestled; he and God struggled
Limping, victorious, Israel followed
He followed, deceived, then he struggled and won
----------
This is in the rhyming style of a tritina, but since I used 2-syllable trailing words, I bumped the line length to 11 syllables instead of 8 to accommodate the last line of the poem.
This one was fun: there is wordplay in the Hebrew for Jacob and heel (follow), and also on supplanter/deceiver/usurper, and the name Israel can be translated 'struggles with God'
Contacts
clarity seeps the wound
the flip phone missing digits
a womb infused with violet hues
it's quiet till it fidgets
happenstance and bruise
it swells for martyr avenues
the screen is cracked yet vivid
seed in purple
seized usurper
seems the impact killed it
Premium MemberWispy River
I cherish your dreary safe house; I share your cover trick.
The nightfall apparition is unmistakably pitiful, not majestic.
Alone, yet not the only one, I walk around my sorrow phobic
Almost when a heron offers a final chance, it is laded with panic.
The maelstrom witch hurls an illuminated usurper mystic.
Sound Tracks
Some stayed alive long enough to leave.
Some died refusing to go;
the apartment leaks their footsteps.
You follow them to a door
as they slip into closets
to mutter or rage in garments
they have never owned.
Ghosts avoid them
they live on in the fabric and pith,
they die in the gist and substance
of this home as fragmented recordings;
the former, the previous,
and the yet not departed.
Listen tonight, listen for their labored breathing
as they struggle to replace
the things you have laid down
in place of their own.
Once they were the replacement tenants
now you are the usurper, and your trappings
an unsought clutter.
They won’t speak to you, for you are not there,
however they will arrange and restore
what you thought was yours
as you dream of leaving.
The Mind Is a Temple Within a Kingdom
Two kings wage war on the same crown.
To which the fate of your kingdom is bound.
Destined collision.
Of a manifesting mechanism.
The great schism of barbarism and wisdom.
Ruling over a nation of one.
By your actions a King's victory is won.
You are their common denominator.
Which is the Curator? Which is the Traitor?
You must crown one your great emancipator.
Curator
No doubt design of the mind was divine.
A temple that denys the confines of the sublime.
A bulwark from demise amd derise of the benign.
Guardian of the shrine that shines with all those aligned.
Traitor
Unstable power. Responsible for malicious creation
Removal of "our." Potential usurper of an ambitious station.
Emotionally sour. The source of your auspicious ruination.
Desire to overpower. Edging closer to vicious insubordination.
