Lost with time to spare
on the up and up to crescendo.
Now, uptime set to idle, bored!
Gliding, downsliding -
freefalling to the flipside.

When a small, wee child
I was taught at home and school
how to tell time correctly.
Before those lessons
time spoke only of today,
yesterday or tomorrow,
and consisted of
uptime, lunchtime, go home time,
dinner, ‘jamas and bedtime.
Child favored times were
Christmas and birthday excites
after long months of dreaming.
Once a teenager
time varied school and free times
while each age brought distinct change.
Then came adulthood
when time blurred years in fast flight
without any distinctions.
I soon realized
it was routine that merged years
for its sameness is a thief.
When routine rules time
our same weekdays just repeat
to end on the same weekend.
