Though you invited me after my begging,
You soon after had begun your shedding
Of soul from body that was suffering.
They saw you sat up, almost death-defying.
Your older sister told me you really loved me,
I know you did, but you could never fully see
The reasons why I will always simply be
A woman who just wants to live a life so free.
I saw you, lifeless, cold, I came to say bye.
I stood before you, secretly wondering why,
(Why now, why does it feel too soon) I cry.
Even when gone, your little smile is unshy.
I know everyone you knew loved you so,
But I loved you most, I'm unsure I can let go.
I feel I'm not special, our bond was though.
Your love for me always helped me grow.
CAT
A cat, unshy,
Will wander by
Eyeing with curiosity
The abject, bending,
Condescending
Object it perceives as me.
I bow and scrape
From knee to nape
Hoping to gain its amity,
But though I try
To win it, I
Know it still thinks
The worst of me.
(For Prof. Wolfgang Zach)
The kids beheld a bright face
Beaming like an emblem
Of the new photo-sky:
Subliming all our nativity
Sublimating our eagled rites.
His eyes were so sharp
Two fruits of nature!
Two seas of blossoming love:
Twinkling in a raw urgency
Of our black eagle.
The blond marched gently
Treading a retrieved soft soil
Of a celebrate earth
While his pious anthem thrusts
Through the heart of fading racism!
O his eyes pierced
The sour soul of unshy inhumanity
That ever-ready bird hatching agitations:
At which many lads arrowed at will
In those past seasons of no avail!
