Unscaled Poems | Examples

Green

stay your hand
with its obtund touch
take away your arid mouth,
your incurious eyes from me,
from my unscaled sight

you are but dull clay,
Ozymandias, barren
and I am fresh green
that strives for the light

spilling from your crumbling ashlar
jubilant, with scarlet buds
to catch the rain
and burgeon in its caress

to sway with the tumult of the wind
to kiss the voluptuous sky
to lay my feet on the lush earth
to live, to thrive
far away from your desert

They Were Pink I Think

I dreamed last night of elephants
Gaily dancing around

In a vision of the night these pachyderms and
thoughts began to resound

In one scene a card came in the mail
an elephant in party hat

Inside in beautiful scrolling script it said
I,ve written to tell you that

You see I am starting to drink to
In hopes to make you think

Then a happy song began to play
As music to his ears

That flapped like bed sheets in the wind
The moment it appears

I hear you've carried a grudge he sang
In vibrato let it go

the life giving music of God's love
Strike the band let it Once more flow

For it cannot reside in this place

How apropos an elephant known
to never forget

brightly placed on a true vision board
a new track my mind to beset

I forgive you,I release you
I have set you free

You carry now with you no cumbersome
baggage from me

Nor I from you we two are free
With unscaled eyes clearly to see

What days new dawning will trace

That we will set down in indelible ink
It truly boils down to intention I think

With this I wish you the best

The Butterfly Eater

A tale lost to the eyes of an opened box
She watched the terrors frenzied frolics
there gasps of unbreathed unstagnant air
Each horror quickly surpassed
her pupils fully blown
then something stunning ripped her gaze
a multi faceted beauty
her head tilted to the sun
eyes tasting sunlights warmth
her sloping swanish nape
like mountain side unscaled
Watching this beauty she couldn't grasp
The evil she understood
their shallow shapes
and deformed moulds
portents of their will
This water coloured feint unsure
but with the parting of those perfect lip
she understood
as she swallowed
the satin winged beauty
her envy of the pure so obvious
the butterfly eater unchained

Hear the News

saraband

Hear the news most ev'ry morning!
Major plot stillborn has sounded
shaky nation's jagged warning.
Men brood their loss and lie in jail
until their sponsors pay their bail.
And then they lie upon the stand,
O, hear the news throughout the land.

Hear the news most ev'ry morning!
Some major plot has been derailed;
Hear the bells ring tangled warning,
nervous nation's demise is dawning.
D.C. big shots tease with yawning.
The guilty go free; justice, veiled
for mountains of fraud left unscaled.

Living's Curse

Many times through many lives I fought for freedom of the mind
As burdens made by living’s curse ensured restraint of freewill’s kind.
Then something found in search beyond the rampart walls of prison’s kind
Revoked the parapets unscaled to free the curse of limit’s mind.

Then arose from dungeon’s depth that once was bound by living’s curse
Free spirit with its wings unfurled where thoughts could soar in freedom’s verse.
Though many lifetimes I had walked denied the ways of freedom’s verse
Now unconfined by mind’s restraints I’m now released from living’s curse.

Walking now new paths illumed, as with new sight I am consumed.

A Girl

As light leaves us,
the truth is unveiled.
A girl lies with sorrows unscaled.
To wither and die,
without hope on her side.
She can no longer see a light,
to guide her through those forsaken nights.
She waits for a sign,
that all will come in line.
She is in pain,
with no one to help, all efforts sought in vain.
When will the girl see,
there are others like she.
Others share her pain,
others like me.
Her light once pierced through the shadows,
it was a beacon through the night.
Now it is only a dying flame,
leaving the world to darkness,
cowering in shame.
A girl lies dying in her pain.

My Blindness

The tall grass swishing
My feet recoils
From a glistening light
Simulated
On the unscaled eye

I know its beautiful
But I am afraid
Not because of it
But because its gone
And I cannot trust
My blindness.

Something in me
Wants to be sure
Ever since
It slithered past
Its uncomforting
To be without location
In a swathe of time.

I will
       not go
     further
              into this
                          grass
             until I
                      can see
              why the grass is
                         so still
                                           suddenly.
