A wonderful animal
That command great
Unpretentiousness
An irreplaceable friend
In the desert.

I stepped off Sunday ready to get roaring with the week
though still isolated in flesh from the rest of the world.
The sun is shining, leaking its profound and hopeful ink
into my genie jar and I wonder when I will be able to escape.
What power will polish with a diamond-rough sleeve. I’ll blink
since it's been so long, suddenly rushing toward the waterfall.
The network of eyes will be disconcerting like a long off dream
where my body floated, counting, as I drifted into tonsillectomy.
Of fashion sense, we kindly compliment the pageantry of masks.
Our hair pulled back, stacked, or sized up with unpretentiousness.
After a week, we will do our due diligence, curbside, to bring smiles
to our patrons, though left unseen behind the automotive curtain.
Dreams back intact for those hungry for the feel and scent of pages.
Story upon story fed, the long-handled baby spoon comes with bib.

Special Friends
Written: by Tom Wright
8/12/00
When aloft,
Come stratum clouds of later spring.
Some folks merrily accept their shade,
While others curse the rain they bring.
Until one day,
Winds come, whisking them across the sky.
We stand and gape in deepest thought,
As if to ask, Lord, why?
It's equated to the same,
When Special friends are gone,
We ruminate all those things unsaid,
Now that we're alone.
We wonder what makes an acquaintance,
Become such a Special Friend?
Perhaps It's their unpretentiousness,
And as God's servants, so eager to bend.
Images of Special Friends, like clouds of spring,
Should bring smiles into your day.
By expressed word, let them know they're loved,
Before chilling wind's whisk them away.

Superior specimen of
Beauty, dignity and perfection
What…? Victim of bullying…!?
What kind of world do we live in?
Obviously one full of bullies
Inferior bottom-feeders
Ganging up on anyone who
Shows even the least amount of gentleness
Predators looking for a trace of weakness
Who see benevolence as a flaw
Jealousy gnawing at goodness
Like a swarm of piranhas
Looking for prey who let their guard down
They thrive on destroying
How can they truly not value
Awesomeness before them
Intimated and infuriated by being outshined
With character and strength
Unpretentiousness and inner sanctum
Inspiration to millions who are impressed
