An unpopulated place where
poplars grow
Unseen canopies expose
tree trunks in a row
Wildflowers swoon over
undergrowth below
As back to front figures
watch the panoramic show
Lush vegetation evokes a
spellbinding hue
With violet bark
to engrain their view
Don’t flee this forest
reality will go askew
Stay forever
they may just pull through
Lost in the emerald
is a world of their own
Do they seek solace
have seeds been sown?
In this vibrant thicket
where trees have grown
Have they just come together?
or come back to atone
Perfect is a dream
without fear or dread
One that only ends,
when we go to bed?
The artist knew well,
his final words bled
“Sadness will last forever”
>yet brilliance he spread<

Be sparse like the saltbush plains
of the outback, short on adjectives,
mostly verb and noun. Let the sun
scorch shadows into the sand,
hollow out some shade where a little
life can hide from the heat.
Celebrate the light, its clear passage
through the air, hard as the sharpened
edge of a steel blade. See how it cracks
the land, opens wounds where
the inland snake hides and brews
its venom in perfect silence.
At night feel a cold descend
from a sky emblazoned with stars
set in the icy distances of space.
Endure a solitude that drains the soul
as it leaks out towards horizons
of absolute nothingness,
here,
come face to face with yourself.
Note.
The Australian outback is largely
a dry and unpopulated area covering
around 70% of the total land mass
of the country.
By comparison, this arid region
equates to a little over 50%
of the area of the United States,
( excluding Alaska ).

A girl gleams in her ink dreams
sittin against barn wall sqeakin like a soul freakin,
voices from an unpopulated country
dancin and rockin on her soul's farmland stage,
lyrics and long hair wavin one day in "big city lights" ,
famous without frontin, rebellious without shoutin,
grafetti on those nails like she's writin forbidden Art,
gotta Bible in her back pocket and a tongue like a rocket,
climbin trees catchin river breeze
square stompin around daisies and dust,
magazines, studios, clamoured for contracts,
the sunrise came with pay checks,
jealousy raged from people rivited in righteousness,
tickets got ripped, a kid got gipped
but that peacock quill never left her hip -

WALKING AT NIGHT
Moon
Black sky
Dissonant
On the cracked sidewalk
Old neighborhood
House tops
Like pyramids and
Trees meet above the street
Car passing
How the oily street shines
Streaks__________________
FLASHES!
Yellow to the eye
Downtown sounds
Seems unpopulated
A distant crowd dodging horns
Lonely
Walking along
No high
No low
The hidden thousands all on eye level
Just my head existing
So examine the ground -
Vomit seeping down the cracks
Rotten hot dog
Rotten city
A change of thought
Music?
Yes!
Of a sort
A Mahler horn
Sibelius oboe
Strings in tremolo
Hair stirs to fine threads
Arms swinging
Feet tapping the sidewalk
Random thoughts
Composing
Galaxies
Fear!
Love
Hate
Happiness
Despondent?
No!
HAPPY!
Freedom
Walking
