So, don`t be the merry jokers prey
as he play`s his zany game of charades
upon this trickster`s holy day
never let the sunshine’s ray
turn into a dark light of shame
so, don`t be the merry jokers prey
his game don`t let the joker play
fools he will make of the sane
upon this trickster`s holy day
into the joker hand you will pay
as you play his merriment game
so, don`t be the merry jokers prey
just when you think everything is ok
is when he reveals his evil master plan
on this trickster`s holy day
he will frolic in the ridicule
while smiling his devilish grin
so, don`t be merry jokers prey
upon this trickster`s holy day

Kids nowadays don't know the fine art of staging Halloween tricks,
(Though they are very adept at fleecing me for candy to get their kicks!)
Tricks we did as kids would no doubt today land us in the slammer,
Causing outrage and rancor by folks for our hides with great clamor!
Obviously, we didn't hang around to collect a tasty treat,
But did our dastardly deeds and made a very hasty retreat!
A favorite prank was upsetting outhouses and the havoc that created,
Causing the hapless owners angst and leaving them somewhat agitated!
Another silly trick that raised a stink that we did with great dispatch,
Was to place a bag of manure on the porch and light it with a match.
We'd knock on the door, then run like a bat outta you know where,
Watching the guy stomp out the fire and you shoulda heard him swear!
The tamest thing we did was to soap window panes with a bar of soap,
Leaving naughty witticisms for which the occupants had to cope!
In the autumn of my years I reflect on the Halloweens of my youth,
And wonder why my pals and I acted so buffoonish and uncouth!

The clever magician will have us believe,
that he keeps nothing up his sleeve,
that none of what he does is tricks,
that all of it is a pure mix,
of miracles that he creates,
and from thin air, substance, emanates.
The clever politician plays a similar game,
like the magician he will claim,
that from thin air he can produce,
the things with which he can seduce,
whole populations for him to vote,
at your next election, please take note!

I love polygons even as they are irregular
Within the tangled space and time
Rich angles become decisive corners
Tricksters of a memory
It was tender congruency at first sight
Delightful and captivating solid cubes
Even as they drooped into prisms
As they vanished into hues of essence
They trembled at degrees of tender touch
Fear not trapeziums of death
Dread not time exhumed from a tomb
She falls in upright squarish
Die, pentagon, rest hexagonal pretty rod
Wither on decagon fading acuteness
Oval memory is with cylindrical insight
Beauty weeps bulkiness of the volume

Like attracts like, or so they say
solitary, the sentinel stood
brown and brittle, lifeless
Its cracked surface home to many
small unfriendly, burrowing, things
corpse companions...
A raven roosts
in its pitch less, upturned arms
undeterred by the sharpness of needles
long lost to the memory
of evergreen winter,
untouched by Persephone’s bloom.
Death holds sway here.
The once noble pine
killed by the acid reign of man,
now serves only the tricksters,
as he flies between worlds.
