Treatable Poems

Help Doctor Nwaegerue Fight Cancer

Doctor to hail for my not being down,
Close to thirty years for my breakdown:
My biggest catch through a brother mate,
Whose only word for him is first rate...

Now exchanging blows with Prostrate Gland:
A cancer of the treatable brand.
He says he'll live - Doctor Retired:
Wages unpaid had got him tired...

Great hopes New Government will this do.
I dared try to this notion pooh-pooh
Should this not be a race against time?
If my voice should sag now real big crime.

For him in Medicine would stick out neck
And this step translate into no wreck!

Waiting

The beginning of being dismissed.

Starts with a journey of examining the possibilities.

But there is a false sense of welcoming.

Soon, we are ruling out what is treatable.

So that I am transforming into a burden.

So that I am grasping at the possibilities that they are locking away.

Just as I am locked away in this waiting room.

Premium MemberHookup

My body builds up too much iron;
My wife’s blood, not enough.
We tired of going to all those docs;
At night, we just hook up.

*A fairly common (1:200) condition known as hemochromatosis results in iron being stored in various organs, including the liver. Undetected, it can cause serious health issues, but it is readily treatable.

Gasoline

It isn’t my hand that runs down the pews.
It is the boys with emptied hearts
The girls with arms full and rocking
The treatable gone.

Plastic jugs are more dangerous than they seem.
Knives don’t carve secrets like kerosene does.

Pitchers with pungent swirls jostle as I walk.
They have never before felt a holier water.

Down the aisle to my fate as many did before me.

The Blessed Virgin lies not within the marble form above me
Christ did not die on the wooden wall hangings
And the gold adornments had God melted out of them long ago.

This is not a holy place, but a husk.

The lessons drench the priests’ robes.

What nests here cannot be allowed to breed another season
To gorge themselves on tinkling laughter

Have your god strike me down. I hold the noose and will cinch it as I go.
My God makes matches.
I need only swipe them across a stone.

I Love Your Wings

Now that I walk this life
I've never felt so much alive
With you am so less alike
Unlike you am less agile

But it's your wings I watch now in awe
When you fly you seem so much at ease

I admire your new look
I want to read your book
I want to be with you by a hook
Am getting a bigger flow, no more a brook

Because as I watch you I want to hold that miracle
That makes all your flaws treatable

Premium MemberThe Blating Fawn

Where is that blating?
Looking all around
Trying to find the source

It sounds like a kid crying for its dam
Nowhere in sight is the evidence of the sound
Turn and look once more

From the direction of the babbling creek
Down where the Paper Birch stands
Skirted in native Bamboo

Where the coolness is so inviting
To a weary soul
Come sit, relax, enjoy the ions that refresh

The sound gets much louder there__
Then in the exact spot looking
There comes Rocky carrying a fawn

The fawn with his polished cleft small ebony hooves
Attached to his very long abnormal looking legs
Legs that are swinging back and forth for Rocky had him in the nape of his neck

This dappled child of the doe
Calling for its mother to come
To this day I can still hear his cry! BaMa.......

(OUr Rat Terrier who is fourteen years old
was diagnosed with an enlarged heart yesterday..
The vet say is treatable and he should live several
years..Just a memory of when he was young.)

It Won'T Be Long Now

my hair is falling out
on legs, with bold spots
my jaw is popping and clicking
no it won't be long now
the boil are treatable
but no one treats them
it won't be long now

Thanks To All the Poetry Soup Poets

Thank you one and all for your kind expressions of concern,
I finally did find out that I have gall stones, and will have to get more labs in two
weeks then
possibly surgery if the labs aren't better.

I am relieved to at least know what it is and it is treatable.
I don't want to have surgery but that is the way it goes. It will work out.
I am full of rocks, just like my husband said.HAHA!

Again Thank You one and all!!

Mental Illness

Life has no real meaning
Dark shadows remain above,
No friends and true happiness
Don't know how to even love.

Need to feel secure and save
The world becomes a scary place,
Nobody cares or understands you
Slowley all but yourself time will erase.

People tell you its in your head
Often saying its just a game,
You get more confused and distant
Always feeling nothing but shame.

You reach out for help
Know something is wrong,
Nobody is there or listening
Its hard to remain strong.

Losing everything each day
Friendships bean to go,
Your sorry for your actions
If only remorse you can show.

Deep inside your screaming
This isnt a life you chose,
Its called life with depression
With many people they lose.

Its hard to admit you have it
Treatable for some but no cure,
We dont mean to cause problems
Please, we dont mean to for sure.

To be normal like others
Would be our dream come true,
We just want to be accepted
Have a friend who will understand to.
