Reviewing the clippings of his mountain climbs
like watching a flick solo for the umpteenth time

The longer he lingered, the tireder he grew
~ not much fun without the rest of the crew

I talked with my parents this morning (they’re in a time zone that’s 6 hours ahead). I’ll be off, back to school, before they get back. They sound very tired, certainly tireder than they did a month ago.

They’re working with “Doctors Without Borders” somewhere in Poland. We have a fiction between us, that they haven’t been in a war zone for the last couple of months, spending 16 (18?) hours a day, in ineffable, meatball surgery - sewing pieces of people back together.

Although our conversation topics are no more important than soap bubbles, they evoke a kaleidoscope of emotions (in me), our mutual deceptions as fragile as eggshells.

Wet Cheeks

The steepness of a hill on memory lane
As sun shines through whispered clouds
as tireder shoulders welcome rain
wet fingers grasp at shrouds
It's always easy going down
And okay to be alone
But only for a while

Friday

Tiz Friday and I have the day orf
Oh wot on earth shall I do?
Work in the yard?
or will that be too 'ard
I'll drink this last cuppa an stew
The grass is quite 'igh
But only out front
On that island next to the road
It'll take but a minute
If the mower starts up
When I jerk on that bloody pull cord
But after three pulls
I'll be so outta breath
I'll pitch it and get out the rider
Already I'm getting much tireder

It's a beautiful day
for just lazing away
An if I need lessons in that
I'll brew me a tea
Sit on the settee
An study the form of me cat

I'd type on some more
But me fingers are sore
An I've switched them too many times
And this quick lookin' up 's
Put a twinge in me neck
An I'm so tired of thinkin' up rhymes
I'll only be gone for a sec
