Thames River Poems | Examples

Zombie Apocalypse

The old bell chimes at four,
A sound no one could ignore.
The dead rise and the sky falls,
The pouring rain washing it all.
For this world is at the mercy of it's sins,
As death invites itself in.

Fate, oh my fate, hid me from this end.
Fate, oh my fate, let the world bend and break.
As a sword staked through the heart of an empty shell,
Left with only hunger and hell.

The survivers scorn through the roads
Near the Thames river,
Splashing as the old souls shiver.
The world in a war between life and death,
As it watches them take in their last breath.

Premium MemberDeep In Our Thermos

Somewhere over Thames River
condo fees fly high,
So do taxes
and maintenance expenses,
My
Oh my
Oh why?

We chose to co-invest
in this former industrial mess,
I must confess
I don't know why
except our windows
reach for the sky...

Somewhere over Thames River
birds still fly high
so do beauty
and fiscal duty,
So why then
oh why can't we?

Can't we see,
Earth's harmonic integrity.

Premium MemberEkphrasis On Charing Cross Bridge

hazy morn has broken
as silhouette of solitary boat
silently sails on Thames river
where a steam train just passed
on pallid emerald bridge
leaving a titanium smoke
that glazes the atmosphere
with a gentle kiss of mist

reflections of the sun rising
a blend of peach and tangerine
mirrored on the still water
spell a fleeting moment
of dappled sunlight
whilst the Charing cross bridge
is a relic of ephemeral link
connecting two people in love

Flakes of History:Mudlarking

4/4/20
Impoverished children hunting for household items.
has shifted into
Ordinary people reliving antiquity.
as well as
A vacation destination.
Thames river in London possesses layers
of buried time.

What will be next
on this mudlarking exploit?
A piece of Roman porcelain?
A rare relic?
A charred roof tile from the Great Fire of London?

Time-traveling
the tactility of an object grasped
Untold experiences, stories, struggles
Embedded in filth

The City That Charles Dickens Loved

Let's stroll down the London old silent streets,
where the stones of cathedrals never age,
when the orange sun sets on the London Bridge,
and the grotesque, historical Buckingham Palace;
look down: the Thames River gently flows like perfect rhyme,
to revive with its waves' sound someone's lost dreams,
while lampposts await darkness to arrive...
isn't this the city that Charles Dickens loved as deeply as Catherine's face?
Pride of England: the glory of what it was and
still is for all the English that adore their land...
even Shakespeare with his theatrical mind, must have felt great emotion
in contemplating it near dusk to give him an instant surge of inspiration.
