Love is like a sun
Exciting on its first rise
Sunrise is dazzling, energizing
Warmth felt
As day gets longer
Its warmth cozies
Then it intensifies at noon
Overwhelming hotness
Too much to bear
Burning, hurting and tiring
Needs to keep away from it
Needs sunblock, shield, shelter
To get away from excruciating pain
Next thing you'll see
Its appearance changed as it's setting
Sun set is attractive and bold
So beautiful in your sight
Enticing, bewitching
But dusk will turn to night
And it vanished, a goodbye.
Darkness, numbness, helpless
Can't have the same anymore
Eyes closed, will rest
until a new day will come
New beginning, new hope
that we will see another sun
will gently shine , hopefully
with constant warmth only
cherished moment, no pain will be felt
The only wish, oh Genie.

Another warm day has begun,
Soaking in the California sun.
Volleyball players having fun,
Joggers flying by on the run.
Children brave the tide unafraid,
Couples snuggle close in the shade.
Surfers with tans that never fade,
Sailboat owners got it made.
Wind boarders pressing their luck,
Those buried in the sand are stuck.
Food vendors selling from a truck,
Trying to make an honest buck.
Girls wear bikinis that rock,
Guys carry phones in their sock.
The pallid are smearing sunblock,
Nobody cares about the clock.
Grandpa's still acting like a clown,
Grandma's still wearing a frown.
Parents with wet towels all around,
Waiting for the sun to go down.

In life, we must protect ourselves
From harm, disease and pain,
With seat belts, sunblock, bug spray
And umbrellas for the rain.
Alarms give peace of mind in case
Some burglars are about
And wearing masks convinces us
The virus is kept out.
In many sports a helmet
Is required to be worn
And knee or elbow pads make sure
No ligaments are torn.
We pay insurance premiums
To head off a disaster
And save up for the future
Which, these days, keeps coming faster.
We plan and try to be prepared
For all we can expect,
But life may toss a curve ball
Against which we can’t protect.

March forevermore my child
Press onwards admirably
foward
Should you to be allowed
and granted access
Piggyback if you can on the
wing's of solent angel buffered
kite
Whilst all the while still
remembering lest never
i forget
That which was instilled in
me and taught
Knowledge for my own
protection in order to extenuate
my preservation
Such as to keep a safe distance
between i and the sun
Otherwise i am bound
to get burnt
Matters whether or not
if one is to journey in the dead
of winter
Take untold safety precautions
drown oneself in sunblock
factor 50+ sunscreen
Because it will always be the
very last thing you never
in your wildest imagination
would even contemplate
That will steal a march on you
and so to knock your army of toy
soldier's over as well

I don’t need sunblock
redder than strawberry
worst mistake ever
woke in the night
feeling hot all over
sunblock next time

I wish you'd call me pretty
When you're not trying to scare me
I wish i had a sunburn
to be soothed by a cold moon
I wish I'd get asked questions
From people with no answers
I wish I could just float away
Without a "be back soon"
Because nothing's ever open ended
In hallways of closed doors
I'm on an elevator going sideways
On the second floor
Bathing in beige carpet
My mascara tastes so sweet
The smell of sunblock clogs my pores
Everything's left incomplete

eating cold melons
fam gathering in the shade
chasing ice cream truck
lovely summertime
at the park feeding the ducks
sitting at the lake

the chartered
bus stops in
an aire of
released
brake
pressure
clambering
while clamoring
out of the bowels
of the snake hissing
door's mouth
spitting out
pork and
souer
kraut
you wouldn't think
we're in Greece
tropical colors
of Hawaiian
sunsets
offset by white
socks pulled
nearly
to the
knee
the smell
of sunblock
cooking on flesh
frying pans of fat
men and fatter women
my friend Hans
said not typical

Summer cooking on the beach,
Slap the sunblock where I can’t reach,
Baking in this broiling sun,
Ever since the day begun.
I’m roasting alive can’t you tell?
Touch my skin and I’ll scream like hell!
This is more than an alarming tan,
Someone said I’m a lobster man.
Sitting here I continue to broil,
Want some popcorn, just add some oil,
I’m finished now, I’m well done,
Cooking here in the summer sun.

PHANTASMAGORIA
If you don't like where you are..take a trip in your mind
Look in your brain's dark corners and see what you find
There are places a groaning board tempts with an epicurean delight
But the populace heads for the worst comestibles in sight
When choosing Burma or Myanmar as it's now called
Or Manila where kittens are drinking sewage in a yard
Who knows? they might think kittens are viands too
But if this gastronomic delight does not appeal to you
Try a whole pig on a spit, cleaved open to reveal
Viscera and liver, cooked and ready to peel
You could try a lunch of grilled belly lining
If not, its pigs' snouts and tongues for fine dining
Egg on your face takes on a whole new meaning
When it's smeared on a face --slimy and gleaming*
Don't forget the venues where entrails drip over a fire
Or octopus tentacles tasting like a rubber tire
Remember...wandering is possible but not leaving your niche
Thinking how the other half lives might cure a travel itch
So start up the mind's motor and go anywhere you wish
Without having to eat even one revolting dish

With the sun in my eyes, I grab my sunglasses and go
I go off in the world. Wondering where life will take me next.
Not knowing drives me insane. However, I take the pain.
I spot a destination, and decide to go move forward.
I end up on a sandy beach.
Putting on sunblock makes me wonder how hot the sun really is on this day.
So I then take out my phone.
Looking on the weather app, and soon realize it is 90 degrees!
Today… I realize that when I open my eyes and really look, there is so much more than just a destination.
There is a journey.

On a day at the beach
You have sun, you have sand
And a backdrop of ocean
To lap at the land.
If you’re there with some friends
And umbrellas for shade,
All your worries dissolve
(If some sunblock you’ve sprayed).
You relax and unwind
While enjoying the breeze
And pretend that you’re living
A life full of ease.
But alas, the day ends
And you trudge off the sand
With towel, umbrella
And beach chair in hand.
You’re sticky and icky
And clammy and hot
And only a shower
Will cure what you’ve got.
But once you’ve rinsed off,
You start wondering when
You’ll be able to visit
The seaside again.
