Flames Of The Evergreen
Rusty sunbelt clench
a rosette of scarlet peaks,
…puffed lipstick trees dip.
Vermilion blossoms
surface on a marooned lake,
blushing a pale shade.
Petals shed to a
subtle red, 'still in the pink',
their ardor of Spring.

The annual spring carnival's in town,
and my five senses are in for a treat.
For it is much more than rides and a clown,
this extravaganza is hard to beat.
Flamboyant colors hypnotize my eyes,
flaunting fantasies that seem surreal.
And to top it off, I could win a prize,
or some cash on the crown and anchor wheel.
It smells of peanuts and cotton candy,
amidst a cacophony of loud bells.
And the whole spectacle is jimdandy,
I can taste the flavors each vendor sells.
The rawhide feel of pitching a baseball
adds to the tactile sensations I feel.
And the noisy crowds are part of it all,
lost in the fervor, for nothing seems real.
Painted tents bloom like flowers in the spring,
popping up as soon as winter snows melt.
They're a traditional seasonal thing
that precedes summer, north of the Sunbelt.

Grounding teeth against the wollywork
Memorization doesn't appetite and clause
Matching petulant crashing opposed
Language and its neighbor
Avenue of bark
Credible crock croaking a broken moat
Butcher a goat
Drowning why like castling a brook
Finalizing a product
Like escaping a hurricane queen
Dragging ten mutinies of throat
Trusting in a scratchboard to mimic an answer
What we don't know
That can television a torch
And repel rocket cocktails
Between the legs of market and street
To scream through a screen
And disrupt sunbelt of orange glo
