#9: Days of Paper Roses

Do the numbers--dogs don't count--just survives!
Then everything, be as close enough, still,
of this and that, thoughts begin and end, thrives,
truth betold, none were measured boundless will.
There's a bold statement, typed on front pages,
rolled off the presses, just to impress us,
splashed inklings midst papered, of such phrases,
... rolled and impressed, settles the dust--minus.
High-topped towers, the light of day, shadows,
thought-filled days, wages paid by subscribers,
of The Times, Gazettes, or Tribune Heralds,
flighters, fighters, there too were paid--writers.
Dawn paper rolls, notepads ... night closes,
they blossomed they did like rows of roses.

Off On Spectrum

My cable station’s battling
With Disney; what this means
Is that the U.S. Open’s blocked
From many TV screens.

Since tennis on TV is shown
On ESPN, owned
By Disney, all subscribers
Have their tennis joy postponed.

It isn’t fair when, due to greed,
The corporations fight,
Depriving viewers of a sport
That fills them with delight.

I’ll read about the matches
And the highlights of each game,
But sadly, as all sports fans know,
It won’t be quite the same.

Siriusly

In the car, our radio
Has stations we adore
From a company called Sirius,
Which we pay extra for.

As Sirius subscribers,
We get classical and blues,
Plus the Beatles and a lot of
Rock and roll from which to choose.

But on New Year’s eve, our signal
(For it’s satellite deployed)
Just stopped working and so Poof!
There went the music we enjoyed.

Since it’s holiday, we couldn’t
Reach a person to assist
And the helpline couldn’t help us,
Not an unexpected twist.

We will follow up tomorrow,
Though the irony, to me,
Is that we had no such problems
When our radio was free!

Braintina

Yeah bro that's great.
Tell me things I wanted to hear on a place I have to create a security password reminder to reach.
Braintina, that's what we'll call her.
Bit of a .
But you know that.
Take her out behind the barn and let her lament about rabbits as you put lead into her skull.
You are holding you back.
One day you'll be dead and you'll regret every thought that stayed in your head.

I cannot read minds.
I cannot read minds.
I cannot read minds.

You have a gift that needs to be shared.
Not just with your subscribers.

Bitterness Civic Fruits

With her citizenry in speculation?
What next after the abomination?
Why shoot the stood confrontation?
Just for dictatorial execution

The far for we move away from,
Independence in full of storm,
Creative tumbocrats innovate scam,
All around in a boiling water frame

All workplaces baptized in troubles,
Shelters occupied just troubled couples,
To put on the table but just the battles,
As the fortune subscribers burn candles

As you chew swallowing but few
As you drink the starving-learned stew
We grow narrow slender size new
Better the persons who lifted you

Gifts Within a Lifetime

MY CHRISTMAS POEM TO BE PUBLISHED IN CDN MAGAZINE* AS THEIR OFFICIAL XMAS
MESSAGE TO SUBSCRIBERS.

I offer you a vase
to hold the memories of this special season
To fill with coins
to share with those who have none
To fill with dreams
for the days that hopes are hard to find
To fill with the memory of family and friendship
for the days that you are among strangers
To fill with the smell of the sea
for the days that you are called to travel afar
To fill with the belief in magic
for the days you need anything to be possible
To fill with the scent of the evergreen
to remind you of our islands beauty
To fill with strength of your inner soul
for the days that you need to be truly strong
To fill with the generosity of your heart
for the days that you must simply forgive
To fill with sweet memories of good Christmases
for the days you recall ones that were not
To fill with the rhythm of my heartbeat
for the days that you dance within a moonbeam
To fill with the luxury of each days sunrise
for the moments spent with those whom you love
