Sighted Than Slighted and Delighted

Trump has been sighted
many people always slighted
he was delighted

by Trump we were told
on his party has a hold
image of him did mold

is trash like corn husk
Trump dental work showed a tusk
always did like Musk

of Trump had our fill
had failed to pay his each bill
which we knew he will

Delving Deeper

The comment hurt and I withdrew
My response was brief as I promptly ended our conversation
Thoughts flooded through my mind
"He doesn't need me" "He has her now"
A truth that I sometimes still find difficult to accept
We shared a special, one-of-a-kind connection
A mutual, multi-level intimacy that we both cherished and carefully tended
A bond that neither of us had ever had with anyone else...

Everyday, I am reminded of what I need to do to avoid getting hurt
Honour the boundaries I've put in place
Establish and reestablish those lines
Yes, I have made progress...

And yet, here I am
Dodging strikes and curveballs that life loves to throw
Feeling side-swiped and unsettled by another round of letting go
Knowing that engaging only makes me want to delve in deeper
The way I'm used to
The way WE used to

And that's where my big heart gets me into big trouble
You'd think I would know by now
Because it lures and leads me to the place I've worked so hard to stay away from
The place that always ends up leading me...here

Slighted

My secrets are bestowed,
Upon the chosen few
Oh please, don’t feel slighted
If one of them's not you
For I need one to confide in
And this is sad, but true
The conclusions that you jump to
Are in words you misconstrue
You'll resurrect a rumor
If you think it can be run
You'll cut one down in humor
But insist it's all in fun
Yeah, I don't trust your intent
Your tongue's a vicious blade
And I won't share my thoughts with you
'Cause that's how lies are made

Women Being Slighted Again

Women Being Slighted Again

Men can be controllers of women's lives
And must give approval to their wives
For things to do that they may want
Down horrible husbands have to hunt.
(Trump's favorite simple-minded word.)

Statement has been made by Mike Pence
And also probably Prius who is a prince
Woman must do what they are permitted
Before their actions can be committed.

Trump wants to brag while being proud
About much loud noise and size of crowd
But is becoming to find it hard to bare
Seeing all of the women in Times Square.

Crowd size is petty compared to other things
During Winters, falls, summers or springs
And regardless of type or kind of weather
Trump should try to get his act together.

Slighted Artist

Obscured by curtains in a squalid room,
Ignored and trampled on by those above,
The slighted artist has no place to bloom
And no confessor for his need of love.

He roams the streets at night in search of friends
Who might remind him of a brighter day.
At last he turns around, goes home, and spends
His time in flights of fancy far away.

At day his torpid mind is irked and bored;
He finds himself the subject of half-witted thoughts
And he would rather be avoided and ignored
By men whose dreams by vanity are fraught.

Slighted

Slighted

We are a proud people
Years progressed from the hardest of times
History glorified, often fragmented,
celebrated, but not allocated true recognition.
Made infamous for ignorance
lacking the embodiment of a true essence
Hardships fought by ancestors
but we would rather let society sequester
Education and advancement
Too enthralled with garments and dance
instead of loving each other for intelligence,
relevant viewpoints, or political stances.
Seemingly crippled by unavoidable violence
As another teen falls your senses are blinded by sirens.
Do you hear that?
The gunshots, the poverty, the rubbish they dare call music
Senses abused and misused as I am mortified by
the scarcity of faith and hope.
Consumed by small-mindedness
They either ball, rap, or move that dope.
Only a fool would ever idolize these jesters.
I am insulted.
Loathing the eyes which portray this view:
All aforementioned specimens look just like you
and I.
The voices that dare aspire to inspire
are to faint and oft times unheard.
Unanimity and acumen needn’t be dreams deferred.

Slighted Apology

My words to you are formulated slowly, excruciatingly, drawn out.
I do not know how to make you understand and so
It all ends up in a jumble
Each word rushing over the next in their haste to escape my clumsy tongue.

In silence I wait
Regretful eyes trained to awkward toes
While you shove it all back down my throat.
