The Clothes I Grew Up In
The clothes I grew up in as a boy
certain memories attach – fields
and walls, woods I spent whole days
dreaming in, moss covered paths
that led deep and quietly into
a world of scented pine and blue
filtered light and drowsy afternoons
where the ladyslipper offered me
my first exotic scent and wintergreen
refreshed. To these I returned some
time ago, as if to my childhood clothing,
only to find that Time, mistakenly,
had cast them all away as though
