A cascade of white among the verdigris
tickles the ferns below as singing frogs
leap about, cooling themselves in water-play.
On a nearby rock,
I enjoy the rushing water’s breeze.
Purple plumes dangle amid the verdigris
the sweet-scented Wisteria Kapitan
a footbridge of Feng Shui dreams
enraptures my inner child's spirit.

PREMIER CHOICE no 1190 Poetry Contest

A rhapsodic delight in a carmine feathered coat,
a cardinal sits amid the verdigris limbs;
with breast puffed out
he croons lovely tones as
vibrations of harmony
to my ears;
Ah, nature is bliss!
A tiny head peeks
from the lime verdigris
and the broken cocoon
reveals the offspring.
Leaves stretch to golden rays
celebrating Spring.

Bite Size Poem #35 Poetry Contest
Line Gauthier
A dawning truth breaks the amber skies and
I watch white cedar celebrate its elation;
light-play tickles my brain cells, in
tones of sepia-golds and verdigris.
The cirrus seems content with its
travels, gifting hope of new beginnings.
Verdigris on bronze viv
anchors in mud’s delta.
Grim steps keep going…
A strange fear: the sea,
biting like thorny scrub…
On salty tears, a rodeo
nimbly rides, life’s pain
death-dusting the land…
Still seeking a fortress?

How sunlight turns everything green –
emerald grass on the headland,
bottle-green of undergrowth and shadow,
verdigris of shallow water in the cove,
moss-green of tidal pools.
But oh, the browns – auburn, russet,
cinnamon – shades that render
sea and land, as painted
by this morning’s artist sun-brush,
so much greener.
From the womb life gushes forth,
in hues of verdigris, red, yellow and blue.
Her children leafy sentinels, two-legged,
four-legged, scaled and winged;
suckle from her abundant breast.
We are each a Gaia-seedling,
though womb waters are safe harbor for some
her essence resides in all within Gaia’s tribe.
the tiger deflowers and lays to flat
a pride and hubris you've long kept intact
perched on thin bough
stripped cat of its meow
claws cut through bush, red earth and Muntjac
and teeth draw blood on a great Pollack canvas
dark as Bordeaux in a patterned Acanthus
a thick spray of clay
blooming arches and folds
the verdigris breath of a desert-night cold

center>I unearth a penny coin,
oxidated,
a green coat of verdigris.
Numbers reveal,
an age,
one that is decades away
from its mint condition.
I am part of the earth now,
unpolished
gold mutated to copper,
yet still worth
spending.
I have been buying time
deep in the earth of myself.
What the sky now sees of me
is yesterday's sunrise,
and today's shining.
A rainy hike following mud trails.
It’s a Cadillac ‘Fleetwood’
here in the back woods!
A car crumbling out of memory.
Layers of rust have layers of moss,
a film of bird adds a splotchy frost
to the crud.
Not many Cadillac bones are left,
just metallic tree ruins and
the verdigris of blight.
Tired, wet, and bedraggled,
I wish I could have pulled that car
out of the past
and driven it home.

It’s a Cadillac ‘Fleetwood’
here in the back woods!
A car crumbling out of memory.
Layers of rust have layers of moss,
a film of bird crap adds a splotchy frost
to the crud.
Not even Cadillac bones are left,
just metallic tree ruins and
the verdigris of blight.
Tired, wet and bedraggled,
I wish I could have pulled that car
out of the past

Nature's
verdigris face
beams at waterfalls touch
evergreens drink a hearty fill
moss is abundant upon the limestone;
I sit dangling my feet in the
cool aqua-watching swans
glide lazily
along.
a taste
of springtime peace
invades my spirit with
its' lure in this place every year;
mother earth is a sweet nurturer, soft
of caress to the soul who needs
an escape from the grind;
tranquility
wondrous!
Chromatic cascade
across the land
sporting a cavalcade
of roses, parrot tulips,
irises, narcissus
and I look out over the
painted mountain
to revel in the
wildflowers waltzing
in a casual breeze.
Atop the verdigris
the flora brings
serenity to my spirit
and I grab my
paint-box and canvas;
it’s time to capture
the season’s rebirth
once again.

Nature Poetry Contest

Enveloped in luxuriant
life giving verdigris;
I breathe in the light;
exhale the darkness.
Cellular metamorphosis;
fusion of spirit essence;
concession to chrysalis
trans-formative
intervention...
Miraculous visitation,
persistent progression,
a celestial procession;
time-slipping
towards renewal...
concatenation luring elation;
blissful appreciation
for Raphael’s gift...
I succumb to
supernal rejuvenation.
