Premium Member Vignette-Without Words

In his twenties band
Louis ' music fell from his hand,
The lyrics left his head
He used his voice instead-
Scat-singing then,baked his bread.

with that orange hat
I would have matched my lipstick
Said a teen of the twenties
Who did not know
We did not have that lip color
in the sixties

Ready For Change 2k13

He whom dwells therein that bottle is I.
An entire teen-hood just squandered away.
A foolish sot throughout my twenties; Aye!
Inching thirty, I'm found longing change's day.

self confidence oozed out of her
she married and divorced two men before she was twenty-one
few women had that kind of confidence in the twenties
Marguerite is my grandmother

Premium Member Time Flies

Time flies by at warp speed
and years go swiftly
Children grow into adults
and have children of their own
I feel like I should still be in my twenties,
not well over fifty.

Premium Member Tossing Pennies

When I was young and still in my twenties Thought eighty was ancient, never thought eventually I'd be older than dirt Instead of a squirt Just yesterday against the wall, I was tossing pennies

Question of Faith

knowing my feelings
use to be so hard
told that I had none
teens and twenties hard
later life mellow

feelings I know
understanding
I try to be
faith something else

too much lies
betrayal
no more trust

no fear
believe

what?

Premium Member Chill

They
were in
their twenties
when their future
brutally ended.
On this chilly morning,
the snow had put downy wreaths
on the white crosses. I never
tried to count them. There are too many,
and it is not a large cemetery.

Premium Member like in the twenties

this summer sky is what we had in the twenties
I stared at my great-great-aunt
wanting to say this is the twenties

an old- fashioned day, she said
when women wore lace gloves and dresses
and lace petticoats I added, feeling mean

Campfire Smoke and Memories

Wind
on a
warm summer
day. Fir limbs sway
like a flapper from
the roaring twenties. The
breeze carries a resinous
scent of pitch and earth, unleashing
a flood of memories thought lost to
time. The campfire smoke and embers still glow.

Premium Member BEING TWENTY

Being twenty again would be a thrill, guess that will not happen. As a child there were many things, I did not understand. The green monster jealousy was one, thinking it was a child's thing. This would live on in my twenties.

Limerick: Once a lean Lecher in his nineties

Once a lean Lecher in his nineties
Wondered if he could relive his twenties:
He went on a diet
Of French fries and cutlet:
The Wench said it felt like rigor mortis !

Premium Member Uncle Charlie

So says Uncle Charlie, “I'm a bank robber of note” Spent time behind bars, to a life of crime he did devote Don't know whether I'm proud Shouldn't talk about him out loud Or keep him a secret, it was back in the twenties quite remote

We pennies are coppers
    Quarters, two bits

We dollars are bucks or singles
    Five dollars, five-spots or fins

  Tens are (or were) sawbucks
    Twenties, doubly so

  We hundreds are C-spots or 'G's ~
