Turtle
Alpha and Omega were
the last words my
pet turtle spoke before
he died. I never got around to
naming him.
golden winged seer christen love
turtle doves crave gilding speer
searing tip unleash caged heat
melting bleating hearts
Wyandotte Indians
the peninsula dwellers
Iroquois speaking
their sign is turtle
the world was created
on the turtles back
The crescent moon is humming soft
like cooing turtle doves
how I wish that I could climb the loft
and be with you my love
sky of dark taboos
lightning strikes, brim stone arrows
turtle shells prevail
Haiku composed: summer 2020
patience and wisdom
grounded emotional depth
a steady progress
seeks healthy boundaries
regular self-reliance
the turtle totem
The turtle is rather short, not tall
He is kind of fat, not thin
But should you visit him at his home
You will find he's always in
Form:
O'swimming turtle
At home where ever you go
I envy your shell
O'swimming turtle
your safe place of solitude
I envy your peace
Turtle, turtle, in your shell
Your backside is as hard as hell
Turtle, turtle, in your shell
Come on out, I've rung your bell
spring apples falling
snapping turtle crawls up hill
a month worth of meals

These Covid tests
Like rabbit and turtle race
In their race their phase
Rapid tests fast like rabbit
Polymerase slow like turtle
beware atomic attack!
1950s civil defense
duck and cover drills
Bert the turtle
showed us the way
flash of light - duck and cover!
Marching
Towards the pond
Silent, slow, meek, harmless
Kids gather. It quickly recedes.

A
Turtle
Laying eggs
Deep in the sand;
Little ones arrive
Swarming the beach
They will grow,
Disperse
Life!
A turtle in a dirty pond
Was picked up by a dirty blonde
Trump said that the water
Was gonna get hotter
Unless she squirts his magic wand
A
Turtle
Laying eggs
Deep in the sand;
Little ones arrive
Swarming the beach
They will grow,
Disperse
Life!
Heralding the beginning of the day,
a turtle dove coos softly
from a tree branch nearby

The turtle entered a race
Tried to run at his own pace
He fell way behind
Still crossed the finish line
Then, felt like it was just a waste
where is the moon that
used to guide me home to breed -
gulls had no reply
they too can't see sky above ~
smudged by human stamps of smog
Moving at the pace of a turtle
pick up the pace there is no hurdle!
Kindly move over
can't go any slower;
If I hop past you don't startle.
There once was a turtle named Myrtle
Stuck in a plastic ring girdle
It altered her mass
Into an hourglass
Leaving her deformed and infertile.
The sun shines,
like a firework
The clouds drive,
like a slow car
The day ends,
like a turtle in a race
The moon gleams,
like a shiny plate
My turtle got into a fight with a snail
Unfortunately he did not prevail
He couldn't last
The snail was too fast
The turtle was doomed to fail
Across a roadside that's fertile
Came this reptile and a hurdle
As he hid in his shell
A nice driver did yell
Just cross the road little turtle

Slimy Limey declared, what’s up cuz!
