Our Son Is Gone
i had bought her two hand made crystal glasses
one was red and one was blue
the day our son left home
his old thermos fell
from the top shelf
and broke the red glass
we still have the blue glass
and
each other...

The angel works the tollbooth
Exclaiming commands for change
They are a barber on the side
with faded tattoo arms
Holding shears made of fire
coated in silent pious rage
Hiding blood in their thermos
Waiting for a Judgement day

[The Saint]

she spent her
time dreaming
of a dream
dreaming
she worked hard
all her life
she thought she
must be last
in line
but felt
she had the
biggest heart
the most
to give
hot coffee
in the
thermos
future
in a box
she knew...

Gull Envy
put me on a sailboat
let me ride the winds of falling darkness
Find a star to tease a memory
Let it rain as the prow dances
swallow hot buttered rum
from a bouncing thermos
Watch the coast light up the clouds
Let the weather take me home
for at least an hour or ten
Tasting freedom at its finest...

Kleenexes
Clorox wipes
A roll of tape
Kitty cat eyes on a pink pencil box
red apple peeks out behind yellow thermos

unused pencil sharpener because I forgot I had one
three folders with lesson plans

my desk is on fire with usefulness today...

Premium Member Deep In Our Thermos
Somewhere over Thames River
condo fees fly high,
So do taxes
and maintenance expenses,
My
Oh my
Oh why?

We chose to co-invest
in this former industrial mess,
I must confess
I don't know why
except our windows
reach for the sky...

Somewhere over Thames River
birds still fly high
so do beauty
and fiscal duty,
So why then
oh why can't we?

Can't we see,
Earth's harmonic integrity....

Cuppa Coffee Anyone?
I think it's time to meet
People from outside my bubble
The loneliness is building inside
My mind is drowning in trouble

Sit in a cozy quiet corner
Fancy it need not be
A cuppa coffee and conversation
Would be enough for me

Pour some in a thermos
We'll take a walk
Stop and picnic somewhere
Just sit and talk

I don't like drama
I'm as peaceful as can be
Would you please have a
Cuppa coffee with me?...

Creation
An aesthetic inspiration:
A grand, heavenly spectacle
Evolving on a blue canvas
That is slowly painting itself.
A single golden orb appears
Whose fiery tone dominates
The scene and brightens the background.
Next poses fluffy cumuli
That silently journey across
On their way to infinity.
Within the scene an eagle glides
High in the sky on warm thermos.
Below an artist with brushes
And a multicolored palette....

Premium Member Mr Cool and Collected
What is his secret? They asked me.
I had no idea.
He was an anomaly to me.

I had worked with him for years
Nothing ruffled him
He never got excited

He drank out of a red plaid thermos.
With tiny specks of yellow.
Had for over ten years.

What’s in the thermos? They asked me.
We plotted and planned.
I stole it after lunch on Tuesday.

Ice I told them. Just plain ice.
No wonder he is so cool,
he has ice in his veins....

Long Line
The tide shifted
The sun blazed into the cuddy hatch
Moments later the anchor re caught
To tip the empty glass to the deck
The eyes opened then squeezed tightly
Shut to the sudden glare
Awareness filled the suddenly small space
Tide turn two o’clock sun
Line to tend
Wind picking up
Perfect timing
Lets hope the fish run as well as the nap did
Now we’ll see if those hours of baiting
Where worth the effort
Two long pulls on the icy thermos
Then out into afternoon sun...

Meal Time
Porcelein plate, silver fork.
Tea cup, eggs and toast.
Seven days of normalicy,
some rely on the most.
Paper bag, folded napkin.
Thermos, sandwhich and chip.
Without that noon time lunch note,
who knows where one might slip.
Porcelein plate, silver fork.
Pot roast, potatoe dinner.
Heaven forbid and don't be late,
or you might become a sinner.
To late for me, in the fridgadair light,
up for a midnight snack.
I missed too many meal time calls,
and am now the village quack....
