Artist Jaques-Louis David
into politics he once slid
He loved the 'Roman nose'
with Napoleon in a dramatic pose*

Premium Member I Envy You Not

Tell me nothing of "treasures"
the passing year will teach you wisdom.

build your walls with marbles,
and your place with diamonds,

This gold is mere dust,
cause this life is borrowed breath.

live atop the alps,

away from the rest of us,

i envy you not.

Mexico

On the day I was wending my way down south, barely before crossing the border, I was warned, when there, 'Don't drink the water,' so as to keep body and soul in order. But what about all those crops they grow, are they hydrated, by any chance, (and exported to the United States) with bottled Evian from the Alps in France?

Edelweiss

Exquisite, Alpine daisy-like flowers
Desired for my concrete, city garden.
Emblem of pure love and deep devotion
Labeled as "noble white" by old Germans.
When my star-shaped petals began to droop,
Environmental pollution at fault;
I was told they are hardy, however
Success would be greater if I moved to
Switzerland - and a garden in the Alps.

Premium Member Hiding Inside Myself

How do you do?
I missed you.
Day and night
In every twilight
Never wane about you.
Gliding in the snow,
  like you always do

In the middle of the Alps
Not between gaps
Sceneries of you
  are my portrait.
In every eclipse
Dashing to the strait
Everglades wrap up my glimpse

Mementos of nexus
Yonder of hiatus.
Shimmer of yoke
Exalting joke.
Leverage of time
Fantasy of mime

Premium Member A Winter's Day in Williamstown

A cold wind has the breath
of Antarctica coming up
from the south. Snow is falling
in the Alps. Small boats
huddle in the sheltered corners
of the Bay as I make my way
towards the foreshore
and the spray swept pier.
In the far distance, gulls wheel
inside a shaft of sunlight
gathering gold on joyous wings.
Suddenly, something leaps up
from out of its wintry solitude
to join them.

cow bells ring
through verdant hills
rolling up to cuddle
towering gray cliffs
spraying white foam
intoxicating Alps
where Frankenstein
concocted Elixir Vitae
and birthed a monster
rich red wine
and a pot of fondue
on a cafe terrace
jagged tip
of the top of Europe peeking
through the fluff hugging
its head and shoulders
stunning monster
the Alps
Elixer Vitae for an
old soul

Natural Wonders

Natural wonders,
tremendous natural
structures.

The white
cliffs of Dover to the
Grand Canyon in
Arizona.

From the
slopes of the Alps to
the Himalayas peaks.
What magnificent feats.

We marvel over these
landscapes, astonishing
creations.

Will wonders
never cease, we have
yet to look beneath
the seas.

Take in the truly
amazing feat, the
exquisite abundance of
the Great Barrier Reef.

Leontopodium Alpinum

There`s a flower Which loves height Of the mountain tops Growing in crevices of rock It survives sun, wind and snow Where no other species can grow In Austria and Switzerland up in the Alps Leontopodium alpinum is something you may see You need to look carefully and mind where you tread They are beautiful to look at , with a flower so small and white They are better known by the name Edlewiess which can be translated To mean noble and white

The lilacs are in bloom right now
Deep purple, mauve, and white
Fragrances so heavenly
Even through the night
But in the cluster one stands out
Different from the rest
She's a lilac there's no doubt
But grander I attest

She's like no other flower
More beautiful, more wise
More magnificent than the Alps
At least to my brown eyes
She's all three colors wrapped in one
She's something to behold
The other lilacs are all the same
But her colors are made from gold

Random Thoughts

Today,as i lay impatiently in wait
for my ever elusive headway
regrets and pains awash me

The should have's and could have's
the imbalance of nature
the failures of Mama Africa

Maybe,my optimism is far-fetched
but then,i shouldn't be chastised
for being too much of a believer
in a world that bore so much promise

When did we become faceless?
how did we inherit the alps heart?

The cycle of wrongs seem endless
A soothsayer once said to me
"Hold still,yearn little and hope
nothing"

Parlez-vous Français?
No, but I wish I did
Then it would be much easier
If ever we did live
In Annecy or perhaps Provence
Or somewhere in the Alps of France
I'd love you often, all day long
Serenade you with French love songs
Evenings in Paris, the city aglow
Stroll Champs Elysees at a pace that is slow
And unhurried, why rush? It's only us two
In the City of Love, where all things are new
And how honored I'd be to be walking around
With you on my arm, the talk of the town
